I started painting on my walls a little while ago and found some scrap drywall to play with. So I experimented with it a bit and decided to make something. So I started doing some sketches and what not and started making this.
I kind of started hated making art because it was paying a few bills and I stopped enjoying it. I feel really good while I’m making this. I missed playing with paint.
I also did some digital doodling with Open Canvas and made this: [http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v189/SariK/heads-1.jpg](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v189/SariK/heads-1.jpg)
I just started this today, I’d say it was a couple of hours outside, probably one hour of work. The rest of the time was spent playing with my dog and squishing bugs.
I started hating it because I was obligated to make these things and people got to pick at it and say things like “No I want the claw bigger! Don’t put pink in the picture!” also they weren’t paying all the bills so that means I have to work a crappy normal job. That just puts a strain on everything really. Leaves me with less time to do this thing that used to be fun.
Ignore what others say. Its your art. If you listened to everything they said, you would hate it (Like you said you did) and it would please a person, but not pleasing yourself.
Do your own thing, if people don’t like it, to bad for them. How do you sell you art? Online? Mind if you give me links to see more?
Well the problem with that is simple. They pay me to make what they want.
I sell a lot of stuff to people who do a lot of roleplaying and want a picture of their character. I know most of them because they are the friend of a friend of a friend. Also I’m good friends with a guy that runs a store for all your role playing needs and has a small portfolio of mine there to show off. He’s a great guy so he doesn’t want a cut off the money so I just buy something from his store everytime he sends me someone.
I don’t really have a place for all my work, I made a thread a while ago here if you want to find that. I’m working on my website but it’s mostly me tinkering around. [http://www.theywilleat.us](http://www.theywilleat.us)
So you don’t like doing custom things for people but you do, because it pays, and if you add your own touch to to something, people get pissed.
You really need a gallary with all the art you like doing, and the people that like that, will contact you, with busness oportunities, more related to what you enjoy doing.
Or perhaps do something like [http://www.explodingdog.com/](http://www.explodingdog.com/)
And no, I can not find the thread with your art.
Regardless, they pay me to make something for them. I might not like them but I really like their money, it pays for the internet and allows me to go out for dinner occasionally or buy better food.
I like better food.
To stay on topic of my topic the painting fell yesterday! :O It was a very big OH NOES situation but the fall only took a small chunk out of the drywall and it didn’t effect the picture. I decided to end the painting early that day because I didn’t want it to fall again if I turned around. I’ll edit some more pictures onto the thread in a bit. I lent out my SD card reader so I can expect it later today or next year. Depends when I see my brother next. Should be soon.
