Okay there’s a decent amount of new players that would benefit from this so why not. This is not a brilliant guide, just made from my experience. Feel free to start in your own way. I suggest to read afflikshoN’s first post before this as it covers the basics and the advanced basics. The second post helps as well. Keep in mind this is my first forum post so it may not be up to scratch.Try and read all this and not stop at the first paragraph.
Be sure to also visit the Critter Forge Wiki for all your questions, here is its link
First off, one of the most common and safest ways is to start with a t1 with a desirable splicer such as a bird, moth, or wolf. If you don’t start with one of these it’s recommended you start again until you do. Once you have your critter, max it. That means get it to its max level, which for t1s, is level 40.
They are valuable because they have the splicers Lucky, Ephemeral and Ogrish, respectively. You get a splicer once you max a critter and then retire it. Critters take a while to max, but it’s worth it as the critters mentioned above when maxed often sell at the Auction House for over $150,000.
Some of the easiest t1s to max are wolves with lion tails (an appendage) because they can use the strength buff and in my opinion, moths with butterfly wings (an appendage) because they can use the speed buff and due to the trait ephemeral that moths get, moths can have a max level of 32. My friend had a butterfly winged moth that had a 33:1 win lose ratio.
Once you have the critter you want just level it in the Coliseum. The Coliseum is not only the most effective way to level, it also gives you money for every battle.
It’s a good idea to go to the Safari and get another critter, preferably a moth, bird or wolf. More critters = more money.
Once you’ve maxed and sold your critter, buy a super critter. Super critters are critters that can use the strength and speed buff in the same turn, meaning they evade and hit more than usual, and do more damage. Generic supers consist of mandibles, small horns, insect wings and a racial tail. A racial tail is a tail that gives a critter strength II T. For example wolves are one of the critters that have lion tail as their racial whereas moths have scorpion tail.
There is the exception of fish, calamari and hydras. They only need fish fin and fish tail to be super so they are easy to breed and you can make them yourself, the extra 4 apps of your choice making them more versatile.
It’s easier just to buy a super critter because it takes a while to get all the appendages for one and there are usually t1 super samples in the Auction House for around $5,000.
Long story short, supers win fights more often than not, therefore make money and level fast.
Contradicting this guide, Critter Forge needs more people that create and try out their builds instead of endlessly creating supers. The critter that travels in and out of being first is a dispelling dragon called Bones.
If you don’t know what tiers are, see the beginning of this thread, it’s a great guide.
Again see the beginning of this thread for appendages.
If you don’t know how start again, go through the tutorial until you get to the Stables, click the wrench, and click Abdicate.
Okay that’s all I can think of that hasn’t been mentioned frequently in other posts as this is a quick(ish) beginners guide, not a full one.
