Some rap is awe-inspiringly good. Jurassic 5, Blackalicious, the rap section on ‘Clint Eastwood’, Cypress Hill, all are awesome.

because most metal lyrics have such profound meaning, like “RAAARGH!” or “I eat babies! Ain’t I just shock-a-licious?”. i mean, show me one music genre that des not, when the chips are down, use and re-use a lot of scene stereotypes and repeating, silly content. Singer/songwriters mostly boil down to “I am feeling good and lookin’ fine” or “i am forlorn and lonely”. Pop, RnB and techno: “DANCE!!!”...etc. every scene has the two evergreens “he/she left me” and “I lover him/her a lot”.

saying you don’t like rap is pretty close-minded, because i’d bet i can name at least 3 music genres that rely on or frequently use rap that you haven’t ever heard of. it’s like saying “guitars are stupid”. there’s much more to rap than just gangster rap or the billboard charts hiphop for the masses (which i despise both) MTV is feeding the world.
