Why do music lovers do this?

I don’t understand.. This is just my opinion, but, why do people always discuss bands that are already well-known and long past their “blow-up” expiration date? I mean, we should all acknowledge the influential, classic bands from every genre and sub-genre, but real music lovers should spend more time spreading unknown acts and finding new music. I love listening to the “oldschool” bands, but people are STILL talking about them, in the same threads re-hashed. Go to a site dedicated to that one band, or post something new.

I don’t mean to sound like a jackass if I do, but people waste a lot of time and energy spamming threads like “NIRVANA VS. LED ZEPPELIN” and “PINK FLOYD IS THE BEST” over and over again. Find something new to share with people. Open their eyes to something different. Give them a breathe of fresh air to mix in with the older stuff.

Anyone agree, disagree, or a mix? I’m not attacking anyone, just felt like sharing this thought.

I’m not saying they aren’t, friend. They’re just the victims of constant thread topics, re-hashed. They’re overrated to lots of people because people constantly re-hash the same topics.

Just saying that everyone already knows all of those bands, so why wouldn’t people focus more on exposing lesser known, potentially awesome bands? I’ve found a LOT of great stuff so far.. People don’t look hard enough when they say they can’t find anything new/good..

Many “old” bands as you say, are still fairly popular. Most music that i listen to comes at a time that depends on what mood I’m in
