Attempting to load I am greeted with a messege saying " Test version savefiles are not compatible with the live version "
I am also unable to chose to create and play on a different savefile while the assumingly corrupt savefile is in the chat.kong[...] dir

Can you upload what you believe is your savefile using a file uploading service, then send it to me via [private message](http://www.kongregate.com/accounts/Tukkun/private_messages)?

I've sent you a private messege with a link, unfortunately i don't have any recent backups.
It's a long story about a script i drop in taskschd.msc which didn't run on the right machine...

Whatever that script of yours did, it cut off like half of the savefile, causing the "end of file" to disappear, some stats to stay the same and others completely gone.
While I may be able to restore the file to a certain extent, it may take some time.

I.. think you'd be better off not spending time on lil ol' me
just doesn't seem right having the dev / creater doing data recovery for a random user.
But it's either that, asking you for means to edit the savefile myself
( which for a game with online scores and a community would be immoral )
or letting go

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I've got a similar question I guess. I just got home from vacation and upon trying to transfer my antiIdle_file0 sol file back to my desktop, there's just... nothing there. Not only is my main file not being read, all my challenge files are erased too (despite their files still being in my chat.kongregate folder, and judging from the dates on them they haven't been replaced). And going back to my laptop there's also nothing there, when I was just on it last night (and my stuff was there when I closed the window and nabbed the file.)
I've never dealt with a corrupt save file before, so I'm not sure if this is what happens and I'm just boned, or something's fucky and the game isn't recognizing it.
edit: I just tried with a previous backup file from March and I'm getting the exact same thing. If somebody has any insight, I'd appreciate it D: (double edit: for some reason I'm getting the March backup to work for my main file now, but the past few months have been the most active on this game I've been in a long time, but at least I'm not completely dead.)

Is it possible that your savefile is being read from a different location? Try using Backup Help in the main menu then press the button to generate a file, and see if the file is there.
Also if you can send me a file you believe is corrupt, I will look into it.

The generated files are being placed in the right spot, I'll send you what should be my broken file as it was when I took it off my laptop. I honestly don't care about anything I've lost other than all the work I've put into my quest progress over the last few months, I'm not sure what voodoo magic you're going to use on my file but if you can save anything, save that >_>

(Apologies for reviving this old thread)
I recently came back to this game after a long hiatus. I too attempted to restore an old save file I had backed up, and the game would neither read nor load my old savefile. I made several attempts at restoring my old save, double-checking to make sure I was following the proper process, but none of them were successful.
I'm not sure what's causing this to happen.
