It’s a normal day of gaming for you, as you grind on an rpg.
Just as you’re about to upgrade your avatar’s ugliness stat, an ad pops up on the game screen. Accidentally clicking it, you quickly read what it says:
**Want to play for real? Come into the-**
That’s all you read before everything goes dark.
As if waking up from a deep slumber, you groggily open your eyes. Thinking your eyes are still closed, you blink and realize that you’re in a pitch black area.
_No, wait,_ you think, as you notice outlines of squares at your feet. Suddenly, you realize you have no feet. Screaming, you jump up and turn your head to look at yourself. All you see is a yellow head, with dots for eyes, and a motionless smile, as if someone was actually happy about meeting Medusa.
Trying to take a hold of yourself, you nervously glance around, trying to reassure yourself that it’s just a dream. Wanting to test that, you decide to pinch yourself. Then, realizing you have no hands, you begin to frown, then realize you can’t even do that. You want to get the hell out of this place as soon as possible.
Suddenly, you see a smiley just like you, wearing black shades approaching. Your first thought is one of panic, and you start to run, but, then you hesitate. It’s not like things could get any worse. You could really use some help in this place, and maybe the guy is friendly.
You decide to:
**[Talk to the guy](/forums/64/topics/322625?page=1#posts-6789609)**
As the guy nears, you sprint in the other direction. Looking back you see the guy standing still, presumably deciding not to give chase.
After you lose sight of him, you slow to a halt, amazingly, you’re not tired at all, you must not feel fatigue in this game.
You see something appearing to resemble a zombie hobbling nearby. It doesn’t seem to notice you, yet.
You spot a rock a foot away, and you dive under its cover. Eventually, the zombie goes away, and you move out from concealment. You wonder what the hell that was, but figuring it was something dangerous, you decide not to investigate. Heading away from the zombie, you start to notice a difference in the scenery.
Gone are the weird invisible blocks, replaced by dirt and rocks. Pleased with the lack of tire in your muscles, you trudge on for what seems like hours, eventually reaching what looks like a cave. You curiously venture in, but notice a skeleton seemingly guarding the tunnel. You quickly consider your options. You could either head off or attempt to destroy the abomination. You think for several minutes, then realize that a pile of bones aren’t going to stop you from reaching whatever lies ahead.
You lunge out at the skeleton, nailing him in the head with your well, entire body. Unfortunately, the attack ends up hurting you, as your face connects with the steel hard bones. The skeleton angrily looks at you and throws you off him, sending you crashing into the cave wall.
The air is knocked out of you, and you collapse to the ground. Seeking to take advantage of the situation, the skeleton dashes after you, preparing to launch himself into a deadly tackle. Thinking quickly, you pick up a rock and send it flying at the skeleton.
Taken by surprise it has no time to react, as the rock smashes into it, scattering bones, and killing the skeleton, again. Adrenaline pumping through your veins, you hesitate, making sure the skeleton really won’t pose a threat.
After several minutes to catch your breath, you rise, heading through the tunnel.
Instantly, you notice a piercing bright light, seemingly coming from nowhere.
Three pedestals lie in front of you, each supporting a unique weapon.
On your left, you see a silver longbow, with a brown quiver, containing five silver arrows. Below the weapon, you see a plate reading, _The bow of night. One arrow can fly for five miles, homing in on its enemy for the fatal strike, but only at night._
In the center, you see a magnificent great sword, with a blood red blade. A glowing ruby stands at the hilt. Its plate reads, _The vampire sword.
This weapons drains the life force of enemies, healing you in the process._
Lastly, to your right, you see a multicolored staff, with four objects standing at the tip, a fiery ember, a glimmering ice shard, a resistant rock, and a swirling tornado. Its plate reads, _The elementalist staff. This weapon was the most powerful weapon of the gods, possessing the power to summon elementals of the first four elements. However, the weapon comes at a deadly cost, sanity._
Looking at the weapons, you can’t believe your eyes. Grinning to yourself, you reach down and grab:

**Talk to the guy**
You meet the guy halfway, and he stops, doing absolutely nothing. You wonder if he’s a robot, or if this is just some freakishly complex reality television show.
Suddenly, a speech bubble pops up above his head, like something from a comic strip. You look up at the chat bubble and read, _Are you new here? You can talk by just going through the normal actions like you would in real life._
Deciding to test it out, you go through the motion of opening your mouth to tell him your name, except no sound comes out, and you can’t actually open your mouth, anyways.
After several seconds of pause, the guy tells you that his name is Michaelan. He tells you that you were brought in here to be a slave of Chris. _This was a scheme brought up by him, MrShoe, and MrVoid. Void was in charge of getting players into the game and brainwashing them into becoming mindless zombies. Have you noticed the new hazards that MrShoe’s been adding to the game? Well, he’s using them as weapons for his army of zombies. Once enough payers are in the game to avert suspicion, he’ll start working on actual weapons, like guns and tanks. Once they have enough zombies and weapons, they’ll go back to the real world, and Chris will take over the planet. I’m the leader of the resistance, freedom fighters seeking to stop Chris and returning to our homes. Every once in a while, MrVoid screws up the portal, and someone ends up in a random place in EE. That must have happened with you._
You’re shocked to your very core. The game you’ve been playing all this time was really just an elaborate scheme to take over the world? At first, you’re not sure if you can really trust this guy, but a lot of weird stuff has happened to you, and you really don’t have a better idea.
_I’d like to join you,_ you say.
Michaelan grins. Oh, wait, no, he’s always grinning; that’s just his smiley.
_Great,_ he says, _I’ll lead you to our base camp. On the way, I’ll tell you of our plans._
You think he may be a little too trusting for a leader of a resistance, but then again, he may be in the same position you are. He’ll need all the help he can get.
As you walk, you notice the same outline of blocks appearing beneath you. Other than that, the scenery is uneventful.
Along the way, Michaelan tells you of his plans. _The base lies in a very secluded area. The ground is made up of secret blocks, blocks that remain invisible, until you touch them. Chris and his two lackeys can see them, when they’re flying around, but luckily, they’re too busy to go look for us, themselves. Anyways, the resistance’s numbers are low. We have about twenty men, more than half the number MrVoid has, alone. We figure he’ll be the easiest to defeat, due to MrShoe’s abundance of weapons, and Chris’ many guards, so we’ll attack him first. What we lack in numbers, however, we’ll make up for with weapons. There’s a bit of a rivalry going on between the two admins, so MrShoe only sends MrVoid the bare minimum, poorly constructed axes and wooden bucklers. We’ve sent several raids down the the weapon’s factory, so we have access to steel long swords, and effective, steel kite shields. Our plan is to attack them head on, in the cover of darkness, so they think our plan was to simply surprise them. Additionally, the only thing they’ll have time to do would be to muster up an army to attack us, so they won’t be prepared for an assassin. That’s where you come in. I already have someone trained to attack MrVoid, but he’s not doing too well, and something tells me you could do better._
You reach the base, and see about five makeshift houses, with a couple people busily running around.
Michaelan turns his gaze from the base back to you. _So, you in or not?_
You decide to:
**[Volunteer to be the assassin](/forums/64/topics/322625?page=1#posts-6789610)**
**[Participate in the attack](/forums/64/topics/322625?page=1#posts-6789611)**
**Participate in the attack**
_I think I’d be of more use participating in the attack,_ you say.
Michaelan nods, _Very well. We’ll leave at dawn. Get yourself comfortable._
The two of you say your goodbyes, and Michaelan leaves to what seems like the head of the camp, leaving you to fend for yourself.
Feeling a bit hungry, you decide to ask where the food is. You walk up to smiley wearing a peasant smiley and ask him if there’s any food.
He turns to you, _Yeah, candy. That’s right; the only thing we have to eat is candy. FREAKING CANDY!!!_
You leave him muttering about the lack of nutrition in candy and decide to find yourself a weapon. You spot a blacksmith working on some metal to your right and head that way.
_Well, hello,_ the man says, _You in need of some battle equipment? Swords are on the left, shields on the right, and you’re looking right at the armor._
You nod your thanks and turn to leave, then stop yourself. _If we get all our stuff from raids, why are you making stuff?_
The blacksmith continues his work. _Armor; we need it to look different than the enemies’. Additionally, it’s much better stuff. I use better steel, and use much more of it, so it covers your entire face._
You nod again, and grab all the equipment you need. Despite not having hands, you’re somehow able to wield the sword and shield. After putting on the armor, you look at your reflection in a nearby puddle. Gone is the ridiculous smile you use to wear, replaced by a knight in shining armor.
The rest of the day is uneventful, and soon, it’s time to head off. The equipment is heavy, but thankfully, you feel no fatigue.
Along the way, Michaelan reviews the plan. _Our attack is merely a distraction. However, if we don’t reach the main gate, before reinforcements arrive, we’ll be slaughtered, and Void will have enough time to properly guard himself. Once we’re inside the castle, the hallway will be narrow enough that our numbers won’t matter. If Darkeye is successful in his assassination, he’ll throw a fire potion out the window as a victory signal. Just do your job, guys; that’s all I’ll expect from you._
As soon as the enemy banner is in view, Michaelan gives the customary attack command. _Let’s get ’em._
The resistance storms down the hill, yelling taunts and curses at the enemy. Realizing they’re under the attack, the enemy soldiers quickly beat their drums for help. Several soldiers dash out of the castle, but they’re confused and unorganized. As the two forces meet, the clang of weapon against shield rings out across the battlefield. Screams of pain go out, and blood is splattered across the grass.
As an enemy soldier slashes at you with his ax, you sidestep the attack, and slam the blade of your sword into his head, instantly noticing the inferior design of their armor. Your attack cuts through the enemy’s helmet, and he collapses on the ground, dead.
You swing your sword at the nearest enemy, but he catches the attack on his shield at a slanted angle, sending the wooden buckler flying out of his grip. A sixth sense alerts you of another enemy, and you thrust your sword backwards, feeling the hilt slam into the enemies helmet.
You then slash your sword at the soldier in front of you, then turn to face the soldier behind you. Recovering from your last attack, he lunges at you with his shield, probably trying to stun you and then skewer you with his sword. You catch his shield on the tip of your sword, slowing him to a stop. You then flick your sword to the side, sending the shield flying. Following up with the advantage, you slam your shield into your opponent, and swing your sword in a downwards arc.
All enemies around you dead, you look to see if anyone needs help. You spot Michaelan a distance away, slashing his sword faster than thought, with enemies falling around him in seconds.
Suddenly, a soldier with seemingly rotting flesh leaped at him.
Your eyes widen. _Look out!_
Hearing your warning, Michaelan quickly sees the zombie, and ducks down, simultaneously spinning his sword to take out two more opponents.
_They’re cursed,_ he tells you, _Don’t let them touch you._
Nodding, you sprint towards the castle, nearing the gate. You suddenly dive, as a cursed soldier jumps above you, rolling a foot out of the way.
Suddenly, a sword arcs down on you, and you barely have enough time to catch it on the top of your shield. He throws blow after blow at you, and you are powerless to do anything but endure the hits on your shield. Figuring you have no better option, you catch one more blow on your shield, then throw it at the enemy. He topples backwards, giving you just enough time to rise to your feet.
The soldier has a long sword and a kite shield, identical to yours. The only difference is his standard armor. He must have somehow gotten a hold of MrShoe’s better equipment.
Wielding your sword in both hands, you realize just how much of an advantage he has. While wielding a sword with both arms gives more power, it’s hardly ever as useful as having a shield for protection. Additionally, a one handed sword allowed for more flexibility and rotation, more ways to kill.
The enemy slams his shield into your face, sending you stumbling backwards. You barely have enough time to raise your sword to block his, as he hits you with his shield again. Eventually, he abandons attacking you with his sword, and just continues to heave his shield in your direction, keeping you constantly unbalanced. Suddenly, a plan forms in your mind. The next time the soldier slams his shield at you, you use your sword as a spacer, so you don’t take full impact. Then, pretending to stumble, you dive to the side as your opponent slams his shield into you again. With nothing to slow him down, he continues forward, collapsing on the ground.
Standing up above him, you decide to:
**[Finish him quickly](/forums/64/topics/322625?page=1#posts-6789615)**
**[Take his shield](/forums/64/topics/322625?page=1#posts-6789616)**
