[TWEAK-GUIDE] Your Tyrant runs slow and with lag? Block all the game content like foil, animations and backgrounds

Why Tyrant run slowly, lagged (at low FPS) and uses too many resources?

Because the game uses big background images overlays, in a modern pc the game runs fluently, but is that ok? NO, check the resources consumed in 4hs~ of play, its enormous for a flash game, and the primary cause is the big backgrounds images of raids and missions locations.

Sadly we cant see the current frames per second (FPS) that the game runs but Im pretty sure that will be notable after the job is done.

STARTING THE GUIDE:

This tweak guide consists in BLOCKING all the heavy and big images/animations of the game that cause lag.

TUTORIAL STEP BY STEP FOR AdBlock Plus of Firefox

Open it via the “ABP icon” in the toolbar or add-on bar and click on “Filter Preferences..”.

Go to the “Custom Filters” tab and create a new “Filter group” called Tyrant or whatever you want.

Finally you will have to add every URL of those heavy background images and other craps, just copy & paste all the next list of URLs into your ABP.

TESTING PART! CLEAN CACHE FIRST

To see any improvement you will have to clean your browser cache because all those animations/backgrounds could be already downloaded, or probably you are running right now the Tyrant game :D

So here is a simple screenshot on how to correctly clean all your browser cache in Firefox, do it and then if you already have Tyrant running just press F5 (refresh page).

Good, now you are ready to experiment, do some auto fights or whatever you want, chat, check memory usage and you will see Tyrant running much more smoothly, now start viewing all the locations of the game without those crappy and laggier animations, or check any ongoing raid without background images, specially the Jotun raid.. try it :D

First method: Using ABP for Firefox
Adblock Plus for Firefox

You will have to click on the icon of ABP and this time click on “Open Blockable Items”, then go to the Tyrant page and you can manually check link by link or filter the results, for example .swf for the animations or for map locations you can try searching the name, like in this example:

Second method (pro): Using Tamper Data for Firefox
Tamper Data for Firefox

This add-on works like a packet sniffer, open it via “Tools > Tamper Data” and the first thing to do is to go to “Options” and enable “Tamper with Images etc”.

Now you can start catching images and there is no need to click on “Start Tamper”, is alredy capturing the URLs, but if you want to detect correctly and in real-time the images/animations loaded by the game you should close all the other tabs, clean your cache, refresh the page, and press “Start Tamper”, you will start to be spammed by popup confirmations saying if you want to load each url or not, and thats it, with this method you can detect anything you want.

Nice stuff. Also, for Chrome’s Adblock Plus, just open up the filter options, choose to edit the filter list as raw text, and paste whatever part you want in there.

Suggestion – with the raid backgrounds, separate the backgrounds from the fore and midgrounds.
Personally, I’d like to keep the backgrounds.
And where’s the sentinel images?

I find that chat is one of the biggest resource hogs. Right now, I open two instances of Tyrant which disables chat in one of them. I play in that one, and close the other window.

Using AdBlock sounds easier since it can be automated. So, how do I block only the chat window?

Chat doesn’t actually cause lag at all. Dark already explained what does.

My eyes are telling me differently. If I disable chat, I get less screen stuttering… not only in Tyrant, but also in other games.

(Maybe my earlier post should be in DarkBlood1’s other thread which deals with laggy Kong elements?)

I see this too. My machine is below minimum spec though, just i7 2.8GHz with 8MB RAM.

Yes, some attack/status animations can be blocked, but the most useful to block is the minigun attack (the most common attack).

I have no idea what you’re talking about, because it works like a charm on my pc and my pc is a bit old too.

So raids like Jotun won’t take 3 minutes
per battle because of animations?

Agreed. Low quality makes the text look horrible, but doesn’t affect the number and size of the images/animations. Blocking them seems to be the best answer for us slowpokes with old computers.
