I already wondered when someone would complain about Zarak. I have never won a faction surge battle yet against a Zarak played first, no matter the deck. It provides 3 extra damage to all assaults. Combine this with Hijacker and you have a Strike All 5 plus 3 extra damage on all assaults. Combine this with Iron Maiden and you have a Strike All 4 plus 3 extra damage on all assaults. Combine all 3 and you have… :/
Taking it down with siege is also not as easy as it seems because it
A) Most times isn’t the only structure for siege to target
B) Most siege units are either too slow or die too quickly to prevent it from getting active
C) A pure siege deck doesn’t perform well against all other forms of defense decks
I’ve put Render into my deck now though. Gotta have to see how it performs versus Zarak…
EDIT: worked great :)

My last Awakening sealed: every time Zarak was played, I have my render out, with a unit ready to attack it. Zarak is weak for its wait, see below:

yes i think my tiamat should have siege 2 ATLEAST (or predator)
That’s the point. Make strike decks less dominant, and encourage a wider variety of decks. Ever heard of this?

You support steadfast well enough, even if your opponent has additional structures along with zarak online, it’ll siege through.
What I also don’t get is why people aren’t QQ about Chasm if they’re so riled up about Zarak (which is why I posted both pics for comparison). It’s one turn faster and much harder to siege through, along with distantly comparable skills.

Zarak
Point is that Zarak has +1 wait and defense than Holy Beacon, and Unstable Dynamo has 3 more defense at the same wait.

Marine just doesn’t like killer Christmas trees. (at least that’s what Zarak looks like to me.)

It’s that +2 extra damage on all assaults that Zarak has over Engulfing Chasm. Unless you got a deck with mostly refresh/support units, you’re screwed.

The way I see it Steadfast Cannon could take it, and that was released a few meta’s ago. Engulfing Chasm is better in my opinion.

What are you saying ? With enfeeble 1 and strike 1 it will be reduced to a 5 hp , enfeebled 1 card . Atlas is my commander btw :P , so 3 hp , enfeebled 1 , killable by anything

That’s why you play both of them – ahh, and something like Eviscerator, so your Steadfast Cannon will be chaos’d and doesn’t do any siege anymore …

Chasm provides Chaos itself.

been using 2 Zaraks in my attack deck since I got em on day 1 or 2 of awakening release and I have to say the toughest fights are against Support Carriers, Steadfast Cannons and Pathrazers, but it doesn’t mean I can’t still beat them with good timing and a bit of luck [mainly which structures are targeted with Siege]. definitely still need Iron Maiden as sometimes you only get a small window of opportunity to make your strike all count.
this is my current attack deck, for reference

Problem with this is that it is not all in one turn. Hijacker gets hit on your turn, IM + zarak would be the only feasible combo. Besides that, hijacker is easy enough to kill through indirect ways.

To beat Zarak you just need to have some protect (or a lot). So there could be a possibility of Imperial protect decks coming back like these 2

or we might see Korvald much more often (or any siege commander).

wheres your joltrek skiff ? replaced Disciple with it in my righteous def deck. it performs above and beyond the call of duty. [also that attack deck is outdated ^^]
