If your friends are still having trouble accessing Kong and they cannot understand the instructions posted in multiple other places, I have created a document with more detailed instructions.

I still read from people in irc that it doesnt work for them tho :]

DNS is a distributed system where the information is cached for some time. So it can take much longer for some people if their local DNS servers take a long time to get the newest data.

I wasn’t able to access it until I did this, so it is likely other people are having similar problems. Most people can access, but a few are still unable.

Is there a problem with the canvas links? Mine seemed fine.

When I had the problem, I couldn’t get canvas or Kong to load. not sure about now, I haven’t reverted back to my old hosts file.

Off-topic post here, but I’m overwhelmed by curiosity, so…

Hunter, is there a reason why you’re obfuscating the URL? I’ve noticed that you’ve been using bit.ly for the URLs you’ve posted, lately.

I ask because I rarely click on these things without decoding/de-obfuscating them, which is just an extra step. Why not just do as described in the Kong formatting guide ? This will allow us to mouse over the link to see where it leads.

To go along with the example above, here’s your link without the bit.ly obfuscation:

In this case it was because I first wrote the message for the chat rooms and I was pasting it in the chat rooms. Then I decided to make a forum post. When I made the forum post, I didn’t take the time to modify the post that much. I tend to use bit.ly in chat. Have I been using it a lot on the forums, too?

Oh, and I just thought of another time I used it recently: on the Fansite. The character limit can make it hard to have lots of external links, so I used bit.ly for something recently (but I don’t remember what it was).

guide on how to access kongregate when kongregate is down posted on a kongregate forum. YES!

Yeah, I am going to add the Google DNS option.

It is ironic to have this guide on here, but I’m hoping that some people have friends and will give them the link.

Despite the guides (thanks for that) we still have many people who aren’t able to access kon. Another bunch of people cannot access either the chatrooms or the in game chat.

Any other ideas how we can get these people back into the game?

During the error, I can still go to the forum, but its look like this:

The Google DNS option should fix both of those. But make sure you reboot your computer and clear your cache and stuff.

I again had trouble accessing Kong and considering a bunch of other people suddenly opened up my guide for accessing Kong, I think some other people are having problems. I re-wrote the instructions, including putting the easiest solutions at the top. I also made it so that other people cannot edit the document, but they can comment on the document. This will help prevent accidental changes or purposeful vandalism.

Share with your friends that cannot access Kong. Long link:

I tried to follow another guide, to use tor bundle (another possible solution)
https://botusharov.wordpress.com/2011/01/09/how-to-watch-videos-restricted-in-your-country-using-tor-and-portable-firefox-explained-for-bbc-iplayer-videos/

The problem is that, even if in the end I can enable flash and login, I’m having problems with noscript plugin, then got bored.
Anyone found an easy way to try this solution? Still trying to find a working solution for many friends that cannot play :(

If you haven’t tried the Google DNS servers, then I think that is the best.
