The new “activity feed” is nice, but what happened to the list of recently played games? It’s been very useful, and now I can’t find it.

Your list of games you played recently.
Or go on your profile, at the right hand side, under “Favorite Games” is a tab called “Recently played”.
Hope that’s what you mean.
You can also see your last two recently played games by hovering over the ‘Games’ Tab.
