Thank you bbiernat for this fix that seems to work well for most people in IE8 who have problems with keys “sticking” in games. Note, if your key is physically sticking that’s your fault for spilling Coke on it. But if it’s only virtually sticking, this should help.

I turned protected mode back on, and tried playing multitask again, and, no surprise there, my keys stuck. However, when i tried to run my browser (IE8) as administrator (right click on quicklaunch button – run as administrator), even when you go to the security tab and check the “protected mode” and restart the browser, you can play games without the keys sticking. However, by merely running IE8 as an admin, i get the “protected mode: off” status on the bottom, even when i checked that it was on in the Security tab. I also get no security warning (yellow bar on top). You might prefer running your browser as an admin rather than reducing your browser’s security for a few games. It’s not worth it.

You assume that they know what browser they are using?
Most people who use IE and not the search bar are “technolog-unknowledgeable” and won’t know their browser. A few stars in the post title should attract their attention…

How do you not know whats browser your on though? It says “Blah blah blah blah – Mozilla Firefox” for me, replace with “Microsoft Internet Explorer” and your done. Only an idiot cannot know what browser they are using.
Also, it’s about time a sticky on this was made. I’m sick of people asking this. Now, make one in the Kong. forums where half of these threads appear.. ;)

notverygood – I don’t spend a lot of time in the Kong forum – are there really a lot of threads there about it? I’d hate to put a tech-support thread sticky in there though. Seems to be contradictory to the organization we’re trying to create. We hoped putting tech support up near the top of the forum list would get more people to go there first.

Nah, not a lot really. Just one every now and then. I’d say even less than the amount TS gets.

It depends on how often you call “every now and then” Sure, they aren’t flooded on the first page, but they come up so often you just get sick of quoting that post. Sure, making a sticky won’t stop people making he thread, but surely some people read stickies before posting.. and since it’s “related to Kong” they post in the Kong forums. It’d help. But, whatever.

Then you probably shouldn’t have posted at all.
Anyways, I haven’t seen a thread like that in the Kong forum for a while.

And what about Mozilla Firefox, how do you fix it on that?
|
|
|

You don’t, because the problem doesn’t exist there (at least not in a fresh install of Firefox).
An addon may be causing such a problem though.

It shouldn’t happen on FF. Does it happen on all games, or just some? OS?

The weird this is that it only happens on tetris games such as 99 Bricks.
|
|
|

Does it still happen when you run Firefox in safe-mode (i.e. with all addons etc. disabled)?

You have to close, and re-open IE for the changes to take effect.

The problem is IE8. I had same problem on two different computers. If you use vista here is what to do. Go to control panel, then programs, and click on view installed updates were it says programs and features. Scroll down to were you see Internet explorer 8 update and uninstall that. Restart computer. Now you will be using IE7. That should fix it for you.
