A couple of days ago, I came home from college for a couple of weeks. I tried to play Remnants of Skystone, but I couldn’t access the game (I get to the welcome screen, hit start, and, after about thirty seconds, the connection fails). I know this is on my end, as I can access the game from other places (my college, a neighbor’s wireless). At first I thought this was a blocked port problem. But the port is wide open.
I just noticed that, while on the my parent’s internet, I always have a yellow chat light. Would that cause the problem? Can I fix that?

Yellow chat light usually means ports 5222 and 5229 are closed. Take a look at [portforward.com](http://portforward.com/) on how to open these (select your router, select a random application and follow the instructions but replace the ports mentioned with 5222 and 5229). I think RoS tries to pull data from chat which it can’t due to your yellow light.

I think TCP, but I’m not 100% sure. You can try enabling both.

Opening the ports fixed the chat light, but I am still unable to access the game.

Some searching around gave me the suggestion that port 9339 should be open as well.

It is (guess I forgot to mention that).

On other computers on your parents’ internet it doesn’t work either?

Nope. I can’t get access on any of the other two computers on my parent’s internet.

So the game just started working. I guess the problem is solved.
