What does this mean for me? You will always be able to play your favorite games on Kongregate. However, certain site features may suddenly stop working and leave you with a severely degraded experience.
What should I do? We strongly urge all our users to upgrade to modern browsers for a better experience and improved security.
We suggest you install the latest version of one of these browsers:
Age of Rivals has been greenlit on Steam and is launching on March 15! Check it out here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/597970/
As we've mentioned before, anyone who has spent at least $10 in the Kongregate version of the game can contact us for a free Steam key for the game. But please wait until the game launches.
Some of you have written great guides in these forums. If you feel so inclined, please feel free to copy those guides into our Steam community hub: http://steamcommunity.com/app/597970. You'll be able to help us welcome a whole new player base into the game. Thanks!
**Free vs Premium**
The Steam version of the game (and the eventual mobile version) is a slightly different game. It is a premium/paid game with an upfront purchase price. There are no in-app purchases. You cannot buy anything with real money. However, when you open card packs you will never get duplicates (cards you don't need), so you will unlock all the cards and rivals pretty quickly. And the campaign levels are always unlocked.
**One Time Account Copy**
Because the two versions of the game are different in various ways, we will not support account sharing between the free and paid versions of the game. You cannot use your Kongregate account on other platforms. But you CAN share an account between Steam and mobile, because the mobile version will also be a premium game (mobile and Steam will be identical).
However, we will support a **ONE-TIME COPYING** of your account data from a Kongregate account to an account you make in the Steam/mobile version. After you create your Steam/mobile account, you can contact us with your old and new usernames, and we will do the copy. At this point you can continue to play on both if you want, but we will only do the copy once, and they will not stay in sync because they will be two separate accounts.
So, to summarize, you can have one shared account for all the premium versions of the game (Steam, mobile), but Kongregate will always be a separate account (because this is the only place where we will have a free version of the game). But we will copy your Kongregate data to a Steam/mobile account one time to get you started there if you want.

Yes, multiplayer is cross-platform. Players on Kongregate, Steam and mobile can all play vs. each other. We have our in-game chat messages (similar to Hearthstone) but no full "type whatever you want" chat. We may add that at some point though. We will also continue to maintain these forums as well as forums on Steam.
Any plans to bring this to android or ios?
I am giving up gaming for Lent (March 1st), but the thing that would make me come back to AOR in May is if I can get buddies at work playing. Which means it needs to be playable on phones.

We moved it to Mar 15. Updated the post, thanks.

Yes, definitely. That will most likely happen within the next month or two.
Announcement: We will be releasing the Steam version of the game early next week (a week early) to any Kongregate users who have spent at least $10 in the Kongregate version of the game. All you have to do is send us a message, either here on Kongregate or by emailing email@example.com, and let us know your username. We'll get you a Steam key next week.
Age of Rivals is now available for purchase on Steam!
Differences in Steam version:
* better performance
* HD art
* full screen
* faster unlock progression (you never get duplicate cards, so you unlock everything at a steady pace with minimal grinding)
* campaign levels are always unlocked and available to play
* no in-app purchases
