Hey guys, I’m looking for 50 Developers (including myself) to create 1 simple mini game each. Any suggestions welcome. Email me at savagehare99@googlemail.com. So, who’s in?
Thanks,
Savagehare99 and Wokey.
RULES
All games must be 450 pixels high by 800 pixels wide.
All games must be made in Action Script 2, or at least must be able to be converted from Action Script 3.
All Games should not have a win or lose basis, but should have a scoring system.
Useful things
Games must use the keyboard; we might make another mode for Mouse games.
Games should be 30 FPS
Games should have a maximum score of 250 points.
Games should take about 30 – 60 seconds to complete.
A prize may be given to the best game (hopefully judged by Wokey).

What exactly are you going for with this? If you are wanting to put lots of ‘small games’ into a single package, each game would have to be incredibly small in terms of development time and effort to be worthwhile for each developer, as they would then have to split revenue between all involved in the single compilation.
If they are to be separate entities, that would be better for each developer considering that even small games sometimes need lots of thought and development effort to be good. If they are to be separate entities, are you planning on marketing them as a group of games made for this purpose?
Otherwise, what is the purpose of your endevour?

I’m in.
but…
I prefer not to communicate through email. Why not coordinate the project here? This could be the official project collab thread.

At the end of it all we can pick a developer who will put all of the games together?

That’s a fine enough reason.
I just hope you think about any issues/problems that may arise, and how best to organize such a thing. If you talk with sponsors, you may be able to get a few prizes together for the ‘best’ projects in addition to whatever advertisement revenue/Sponsorship splits you are putting together.
- — Make sure to draw up a very clear contract for each person involved, and when you take their small component into the main project, make sure to receive a signed contract, and give them a copy as well.

I may be in.
I would also say we should have some integration with all the other games. Like having- total score from all games, or something so it can be submitted.

If someone knows how to do that I would be very grateful.

Thanks Moly, that’s brilliant, but it’s not 400 pixels by 400 pixels… is it in AS2?

I’m in for sure, also I think that each game should have an average score thats about the same, like 250 points or something, just so the total points number isnt biased

I jumped the gun. I counted myself in before you posted the rules. I don’t use AS2. Sorry.

You could do it in AS3 and then we could transfer it to AS2?

Games can be anything that can be played in 30 – 60 seconds, has a scoring system. I think a maze game would be good, where you collect the coins… and if you hit the edge you lose 50 points and it ends the game?

What FPS are we to use?
What functions do we call to send the container a score/game over?
Will you make a score display thing?
What are we to do about making people know we made the game?

To be honest, I haven’t a clue… I can only make a mini game, that’s as far as my flash skills stretch.

I’m making a container swf for this game.
EDIT!: I am actually making the menu and main interface thingys, SH and Wokey, you only need to be bothered about your minigames.

anybody who needs any ideas for games…i have tons…just reply here..or come into the gibson (im there nearly 12 hours everyday)
im currently looking into how to get kong to give us 50% of ad revenue..so if anybody whos a dev could look and see if they could do the things they ask for (something about something…im not a dev) that would be really helpful…
but atm this is just for fun and not for money…but things may change….
also people who are involved in this will get the chance to help me on a big project….with sav aswell…but this will take alot of work….but the benifits will be alot more
