Edit: This thread has transformed itself into an actual collab thread! Scroll on down to give our tunes a listen.
If anyone is developing a cool game, and you need music, let me compose an original soundtrack! I’ll do it completely for free, I’m just looking for a fun time. You can hear some of my songs on my myspace:
http://myspace.com/rabbitandpoemusic
I can do a variety of styles of music. I call myself an electronic musician, but I also do a lot of acoustic stuff as well. If anyone is actually interested, I can give you some other samples of my work.
Also, I only want to contribute music to a game that I think I’ll like. So it’d be best if you’re already in development and have something to show me.
(If this goes well, I’m also interested in establishing a long term partnership).

Thanks very much, TehLegend.
Partyhardydan, can you do anything yet in your game? Or is it just an animation? I tried using the arrow keys and mouse but had no success.

I hate to span my redundancy over two different forums, but This Is Not A Pipe should be listened to. Now.

You wanna do a little back and forth? (I know that sounds naughty…) One of us starts out with a beat or a hook, sends it to the other who adds a little then sends it back, etc…
Interested?

I dunno. I will. I’ll make like 20 seconds and send you the individual tracks. Do we let people see the progress or just the finished product?

It’d be kind of fun to let people hear the progress… We should start a topic in the collab forum and somehow exchange the tracks there.

I dunno what the forum gods would say (possibly something like ‘look for collaborations in the forum, do your work somewhere else’) as far as redundant posts…
Anyway, as smigbob looms over us, I’ll start with this little loop: http://www.operation42.com/alex.htm

Looms. What a mean word… I just am very pumped to hear this. Nice job on the first clip!

to ‘loom’ means:
appear very large or occupy a commanding position or
brood: hang over, as of something threatening, dark, or menacing
unless you’re fat, i mean, horizontally challenged, and sensitive about it; i think looms is an awesome word. with that being said, here is i, looming too.
by the by, nice mellowed jingle jangle wah wah there, leftright.

But looms is an unpleasant connotation. And BTW, I’m not fat. Not by a long shot.

It’s good to have some loomers!
Well… I think I just took your smooth little sound and somehow turned it into an electro pop song. On accident, I swear! Here you are:
http://popgroupe.com/song.html
If you can’t do anything with it, I understand. I’m thinking maybe I should try a more DnB style drum pattern or something. (It’s at 99 BPM btw). Oh, and if you need me to separate it into more tracks, I can do that as well.

VS.? Sounds so confrontational.
Lemme listen…alright, cool. I can’t see why we can’t roll with that. It might get confusing for us down the line, but…meh, until then…
Gimmie 48 hours.
@notshi: jingle jangle wah wah is the actual description.
@smigbob: Would you rather loom or hover?

I love the song, the one called leftright.wav. It’s kinda lame at the beginning, but around halfway it becomes awesome. I wish it were longer.

Argh, too bad the one named after me ain’t the one I did. Oh well, can’t win ’em all.
http://www.operation42.com/alex.htm
I somehow turned your upbeat electro pop song into a too-much-percussion, clip-laden mess. On accident, well, I can’t swear on that. But I like to think I left the ending open for new possibilities, key changes or what have you.
There is a clip version and a non-clip version (and an mp3 for anyone listening) but I didn’t separate any other tracks because I am lazy and just tried to sound out your melody with different sounds (and also trying to build up/bridge in to something else.) If you want anything out or separated let me know.
I tend to throw clips in as filler, and no one will be able to use it because of the copyright infringement, but I always like a ‘guess what movie that clip was from’ kinda thing. Can always lift them out at the end.
Oh yeah, If the timing seems off, try 99.014. Sorry I didn’t mention the bpm earlier.
Suggested song title: Smigbob Looming :)

The clips are really awesome! I love the part with the DJ scratch, that was sweeeet!! I’ll see what I can do. I think maybe it’s time for like a little slow ambient part, but, I’m unsure. If it’s not too much trouble, could you give me the drum/percussion track you used? This is exciting. Great work.
Oh, and also, would it be cool with you if I put this on my myspace after it’s done? With due credit of course.
