Ok I am a storyline type person… well a writer I guess. any I have no other skills really execpt some slight pizelating but only if it was something like understanding games. Anyway I have ideas and tell me if you want me to join your team or something.

once again, in the words on the wise Nq1, “ideas are worth 99 cents” |
I get quoted :D Troz learn a branch of the dev tree. |

Troz’s ideas are worth almost nothing but real skill as a writer is useful for anyone who wants a decent story. Of course you’d have to understand a lot of writing concepts. What I can tell from your post is that you’re a young’n who might only be good at ideas. Which are worth almost nothing. A writer needs to be a good writer, maybe you have some short stories you could share to prove us wrong, or even better game design documents. Also, wtf is pizelating? Do you mean “I can also push pixels for sprites, I prefer really low res styles.” because that’s different than pizelating and pixelating. If you really think you’re a good writer I suggest you prove it. If you think you can make some sprites I suggest you prove it. By the way, there are a lot of sites that have free game design documents for anyone willing to use them. |

Not that its impossible, but would a dev team really bring in another person just to write a storyline? |
A lot of people usually just double up as writers. I used to work on a few half life mods as a 3D artist and level designer, I would help with story ideas and did some voice acting (mostly death noises or sound effects), but most of these small dev teams get some help from people who are primarily writers but still do some other stuff. Nqkoi1 is right though, you are very unlikely to get on team with a skill that isn’t really necessary. Most projects require a programmer, artist and designer. Many times people over lap roles, but if you don’t have one of those skills then you’re optional. |

Nqkoi1 and jack, I’ve been waiting to ask this question, :D if ideas are worth 99 cents, then explain Google.. :) |
It isn’t the idea that earns the money – it’s the execution. Anyone can have ideas. |
Now there is the answer I was looking for! But without the idea, there is no execution, :D plus, the only execution Google had to do was upload there site, (and they made the logo too), they just used the search engine Yahoo had. |
Ok. post your idea and graphcics, and I ll code it for you. Deal? it will cost you 10 dollars. either that or I gain 90% add revenue lifetime. Did you got a better deal? |

So two random college ids walked up to yahoo and said, hey nice search engine, would you mind giving it to us? and Yahoo said, sure, why the hell not? No. THey obviously had to make it themselves, which is exactly the point. While you need ideas, any1 can come up with them, and if nobody on the team can, there are people willing to pitch in for free. ou only need storyboard people for really long games or for console games, where having a decent story is quite a bit more important. |
