Okay, call me a noob but no one in chat has been able to answer this either. How do you invite people to a private arena and why is it not more obvious how to do it?

What a noob. Just click the Summon button to get the link you can send to people. Just added it actually ;-).

but how to share arena AFTER you click it without sharing?

There will be a blue SUMMON button that will show you the link you need to give people when you click on it. If you want to share it publicly, you have to do that just after the arena is created when the SHARE button is shown.
