Advanced Wheel: Modifications & Improvements

The Advanced wheel is a major attraction for players in this game, however it
doesnt get spun very often because of the high cost and the good chance of
ending up with worthless items. If you would only modify the contents of the
wheel and change the way it operates slightly people would spin it alot more and
you would end up making more money. Sounds like a win win. Below is a
mock-up of how the Advanced Wheel should appear. As you can tell some items have been removed and other more sought after items have been added. Of course we cant expect to get a red every single spin as that would devalue them, but I
think this is a good medium.

Red gems have been added and the Red Gem box has been removed. It’s not a
huge difference, but players like to see what gem it is they may get beforehand
rather than the unknown gem box. There has also been some OJ Gems added
instead of the OJ Gemx box for the same reason. People can always use these
gems, so its nice to have them on the wheel. Other items added are individual
Oath Pieces. You will also find the new items from Purgatory randomly on the
wheel as well as items from the lv.110 Fire Dust set.

The biggest complaint about the wheel is you spin it 4 or 5 times and end up
with garbage that is worthless! Items removed from the wheel are: Inspiring
Lights, Harmony Pieces, Destroyer Pieces, Big Resource Pack, Diagram Pack.

Here is how the wheel should operate above. Instead of refreshing after every
single spin, once you spin, the item you win is greyed out and you can not get
it again. The above picture shows someone who has spun 5 times and received a
gem, bark monsters, 2 oath pieces and a dungeon pack. This is 250g spent already
for you CallOfGods. If this person continues to spin their chance of landing on
a red is greatly improved, however if they were to stop spinning when they come
back the wheel would be refreshed. One reason why people hate spending
money on this game is the extreme randomness of how it operates, with this
method at least they are assured of what they will get. There are 16 items on
the wheel, resulting in 800g for you. This would value the red items between
150-250g, of course some of those items would end up being sold in AH and bought
buy other people who have to add gold, which is more money for COG yet again.

Please pass this on to your developers and thank you for thanking me for
playing your game.

Love the idea, might even compel people who have never spun before to give it a try if they have earned 100-150g, because of the increasing probability of getting something worth the gold invested.

Thanks for the effort, i like it too.

I spent a lot of gold on wheel, but stopped it someday because it’s just not worth it.

90% of the stuff is useless to high level characters, unless you get a red hero or equipment or oath suit pack or something it’s really not worth it to spin the wheel because with that 50G you could get something much better from the auction house or advanced transmutation

I think if they wanted to make it more popular they should make the wheel give you score again like it did in the Christmas event, I think something like 15-20 score would be enough to make people spin more and not give them THAT huge of an advantage over others that don’t, I mean if someone is really going to spin the wheel 100 times then they’re worth the red hero they can get from score

Thank you for your idea for Advanced wheel item, dilawdid. We will give this post to our dev team.

DSINC: It’s not a HUGE gain to high level players, yet still rewards them (as they’re the most active, most PAYING customers COG has) for spending more money.

In fact, this would be a HUGE money spinner if they instituted it. The problem is, they LIKE the randomness. It makes people play more, not less.

It’s a simply psychological theory offered up by BF Skinner, who invented Behaviorism (skinner taught pigeons to target airplanes, before computers were developed enough to do it for us). In Behaviorism, there are the ideas of positive (adding) reinforcement and negative (removing something) reinforcement.

The big key is frequency. The test results of reinforcement were that it worked, worked, worked every time. BUT, if you changed the payouts from EVERY time, to RANDOMLY, then you get the same results, in a slower amount of time, with less overall payouts. This is the idea behind slot machines. You don’t pay every time, but you pay JUST often enough, with the lure of the ‘big payout’ keeping you playing.

In Asia right now, the idea is video games are nothing more than casinos. They are run with the same mentality, and methodology. Pay to win. Pay more gold, get powerful EARLIER. It rewards new people, who want to spend their way to winning. The more you pay, the more times you get a CHANCE at something cool.

This is why they LOVE the boxes. It’s a CHANCE at something cool. Not a guarantee. A CHANCE. The wheel, with resource boxes? Even more chance to get crap. Instead of knowing you get a fantastic red gem, you get a CHANCE at getting a fantastic red gem (odds are VERY rare to spin it, and VERY RARE to get the good red gem from the box), so you have to spin, spin, spin for even a CHANCE at something cool.

I do hope they actually use this suggestion, and it would be a move AWAY from the ‘casino video game’ mentality to ‘video game company’.

The casino mentality – don’t fix bugs, keep people playing. Don’t pander to high level players, pander to people who want to pay for power. Keep things as random for payouts as possible. This keeps the ‘very rare’ items likely to never payoff without thousands of “real world” dollars/yen/lira being spent.

Congrats on a VERY good business idea, and video game idea. Unless the CEO and dev team stop thinking of it like a casino, and start thinking of it as a video game company, we’re not likely to see much change. Casinos make MILLIONS, without having to actually develop good games beyond the basic structure.

With the current wheel there are alot of items that are actually worth 0g or at most 1g, so of course we are not going to spend 50g with the risk involved. Each server has a different economy and different items might be worth a little more elsewhere, but I think the wheel above would be financially beneficial for cog and make many players very happy, so hopefully they can implement something like this in the near future.

while the m2 kong server is down, i thought i’d dig this suggestion up for a bump to the top. it is a pretty excellent idea.

+1!!! I love the feature whereby the junk you have already recieved becomes greyed out, Ive often spent 250-500G in a session & ALWAYS stop because of the pure garbage Ive gotten & will obviously continue to get. The ability to build up to a real reward would solve so many problems & reduce wheel rage. As it stands i as well as many others are tired of spending with no reward to speak of & this could revive a dead wheel & maybe bring back players who’ve left to enjoy gaming elsewhere.

Also the Gear in both the Normal wheel and Advanced wheel should be around the players level. A level 80 is not going to spin for Firedust gear that they cannot use for awhile. and a level 120, is not going to spin for Oath gear that is worthless to them now. Some of what shows should be based on level of the spinner. For Both the Normal and Advanced wheel.

Hi, we will adjust the wheel time to time to meet the different demand of different players.

At the moment Advanced Wheel isn’t worth a single spin.

Please improve it and remove crap.
