Most of the Archwizard builds out there were made before Prestige challenges were introduced. This one has been adjusted to work with the challenges. I started with “The Works” build and replaced some upgrades with production upgrades (to get more Goblin Banks) and added C250. My results were quite good — I finished my Archwizard run in less than 9 days, 6 hours. I started this at R39 with a gem count of 1.876e148. I had around a 4k max mana bonus to start with on S400. I do not have any of the gifts and did not use timewarps. I did scry a little (maybe a couple dozen times over the course of the run), but I’m not sure whether that would make a noticeable difference in the length of the run. I stopped casting combo strike when my mana regen exceeded my max mana. I think I might have been able to get away with fewer production upgrades, since I got to the required number of Goblin Banks in 12 minutes.

Druidline Drowblins:
Note: wait until S50 gives at least 10 TC’s before joining Drow.
S30, 50, 105, 400, 500.
C105, 120, 150, 250, 330.
D135, 200, 290, 480 (perhaps D400 instead if D480 bonus is low), 560.
E30, 135, 145, 225, 250, 590.
A105, 120, 270, 305, 400.
W25, 135, 150, 205, 250, 400, 520.
Autocast all spells to get production to set up the build; when you get to at least 5417 Goblin Banks and join Drow, switch to BF and CS on bronze, TC on silver. (When your mana regen is higher you can switch TC to gold autocast.) This build produces lots of FC — I had the “Trillion Faction Coin Trophy” within no more than 6 hours of starting the run.
My final results were:
Time: 9 days, 5 hours, 45 minutes
Spells cast: 1e9
Max Mana: 33,500
Mana Regen: 33,800
Assistants: 9553
Total FC found: 6.291e17
Total Royal Exchanges bought: 3680
I’d welcome any feedback to improve the build and may possibly add it to the wiki when it’s as good as it can be.
Probably you can change C105 to something else – Drow(1,2) will give you enough FC chance. Same for A305.
D400/480 – to D55. It is production multiplier, and you simply can’t find in Divine branch anything better than D55, especially for Archwizard run with 1e9 spells. Or you can choose D250 for some more assistants/mps.
Also, as I think, you can switch E590 and W250 – at the end all of your assistants will be from W520, and around 5% of W520 from A120. But it will slightly slow your run at start.
At the end – good build for spells, assistants and FC trophies, yeah ;)
Hey, thanks for the feedback!
All of the upgrades you mention (Except D480) were in the original “The Works” build, which was widely recognized as the optimal Archwizard build before prestige challenges came out and is still used by most people going for AW. I simply didn’t switch them for other upgrades. With the challenges, C305 might be a better choice than C105 since I am already getting unbelievable amounts of FC from C250. There really isn’t anything better to choose than A305 in the A tree.
I chose D480 to get a high upfront boost — I had about a 60k% multiplier on it and D55 takes time to build. My thought was to get 5417 Goblin Banks as quickly as possible to shorten my overall run. I ended up getting there within 12 minutes, which is why I think it might be possible to drop some of the production upgrades. I recognize that my gem count is unusually high, though, and that makes a difference. Anyway, after the initial setup production means nothing in an Archwizard build, so while D55 would have given an amazing bonus by the end of the run, it simply wasn’t necessary.
You’re absolutely right about most assistants coming from W520. I do think having a couple more assistant upgrades might help to jump start the run if I can figure out how to fit them in.
Personally I did AW run at the end of R39, and without Prestige Challenges, when I had enough gems for reincarnating. With some errors in choosing researches (such as C105 and A305) I got some gems at the end. If I had D55 (instead of D250), I probably could produce x2 gems, or more…
And now it is even doable – CS grows 5 times faster if you have all spells on Gold, and all production is boosted by Challenges. So, I think, it is kind of long-term builds with possibilities of gaining gems, if you choose some good production boosters instead of doubtful FC chance or assistants (of course, W520 must have, but A120 is doubtful too).
EDIT: tbh, any Evil build with W520 and W205 can produce gems in long-term
I assume your max mana and regen were meant to have a k at the end? Maybe I’m just tired, but I spent way too long wondering how you got this is 9 days with a mana regen of only 338 :-P
I’m not sure how those numbers got cut off, but they were meant to be in the 30k range. It doesn’t matter anyway, because some things have changed since I worked on this build. “The Works” has been updated to reflect those changes and is the most up to date build at the moment.
D55 is definitely a must; it’s the only buff I’ve ever seen going over 200% (ascended) and it’s still climbing strong, whereas D480 is usually low for me because only Evil gets longer runs.
The C tree is very weak for these runs. All FC chance upgrades are to be avoided as Honsyu said. Post-ascension, C500 is pretty good. I take all the +gem bonus upgrades in C so I can skip them in other trees. This frees up a point in the A or E tree where you can get an extra production, assistent or mana regen bonus.
W400 would give about +650 max mana at my stage (R45), which is definitely worth considering if you’re going for spells over production, but not a necessity.
Ok, folks, here’s the long and the short of it. ;-) I made this build to take advantage of what was at the time a brand new boost — the drow 4 challenge reward that adds offline time for spells cast. “The Works” at that time did not include a key upgrade, C250, which the drow challenge boosted, causing it to become the best FC research upgrade. My build also included a few of the larger immediate production upgrades to boost the number of Goblin Banks and maximize the number of TC’s from S50. The build worked well for me and achieved its intended purpose at the time when I made it, however:
1. It was NEVER intended to be a production build. Grower production upgrades such as D55 are absolutely useless in a pure Archwizard spellcast build.
2. It is possible that the production upgrades are no longer needed at all due to the dwarf 5 challenge reward — with it, the buildings you have are counted as 20% more, allowing you to achieve more TC’s with fewer buildings.
3. This build was not made for post-ascension, has not been tested post-ascension, and may very well not work post-ascension.
This build, while it worked well for me at the time when I made it, is now outdated. “The Works” has been updated to reflect the latest updates in the game, and is the proper build to use at this time, at least pre-ascension. Post-ascension, I have no idea, since I haven’t needed to try a spellcast build since ascending. :-)
R45, 3 days in, already over 200D offline time (18%) w/ 4k assistants. 15 day run (expect it to be longer if you don’t have any buildup w/ S400.) Currently sitting at 9.6k Max mana on S400
Faction: Goblin-Drow
Bloodline: Druid (absolutely critical or you won’t get anything outta S400/S500/W135)
S30, 50, 105, **400** , **500**
C\*105\*, 150, 250, 330, 340 (C400 looks good but it’s really not, hampers production, even though it’s “better” for me to use 3 days in (due to C105.))
D135, 200, 250, 290, [Drow: **560**
E30, 135, 145, 225, 250, [Drow/Flames of Bondlenar: 590] (Haven’t tested yet, very long-term: Switch E225 w/ E400)
A105, 120, 150, 270, 400 (410 gets trumped by 150 for production)
W\*25\*, 135, 150, **205** , **400** , [Flames of Bondlenar: **520** , 525] (400 helps out so much long-term, both pre- and post- ascension.)
Tested it myself over the course of 3 reincarnations.
