We have seen the topic of a world without religion. How about a world without atheism?

Impossible. You may think that whatever god exists but his existence is not actually present in our lives, so people will always doubt.

It is a what if question I am not saying that there will ever be a time where there will be no atheism. I am simply stating that what would the world be like if there wee no atheist.

There would be fewer fruitless arguments in internet chatrooms.

Godless – that type of language and aggression will not be tolerated in these forums.

jjuanksta – please use the edit button instead of double posting.

ee80 – this was clearly a hypothetical, just as the parallel thread was. There’s no reason we can’t do a similar analysis to it.

In general though, I ask you this jjuanksta: what harm has ever been done in the name of atheism? I honestly don’t think the world would be much different without atheists, except that, as unpro said, you’d have fewer people questioning the beliefs (and power) of the church. If everyone had the exact same religion wars might be reduced, but as long as you’re allowing all religions besides atheism (yes Navarre, I know it’s not a religion, just let me work with it here, k? :-P) you’ll still have just as many conflicts and problems as you do today.

A world without atheism or atheists, a world without atheists would be lacking a great many great scientific revolutions. A world without atheism would be lacking in many scientific revolutions.

well for the most part if there was no atheism there would have never been a moa, stalin, lenin…ext wich together have killed millions upon millions of ppl. far more than religion has ever killed.

Ok, fair enough – there have been some pretty bad atheists, though certainly no one killing “in the name of atheism” that I know. However, I’m not going to let you claim that they killed more people than religion has, especially without backing it up. I consider that quite unfounded.

Yeah I’m going to need you to find writings by Stalin or Mao that state that the Gulags or the Cultural Revolution were inspired by the nonexistence of god.

The way I see it, atheism has never hurt anyone. (I’m a Christian)

I mean, yeah, atheism seems kind of like a pointless life, nothing to work for, because you’ll just be ashes in a few years. But at the same time, it seems simple. No “Does God want me to do that?”s or anything. Of course, I’ve lived the agnostic life (Yes, I know this isn’t atheism) and I didn’t feel this way…

And also, since God isn’t VISIBLE (in the way we think of it) so there will always be doubters.

Partly the reason why stalin et all killed more people than the religious wars of the past was simply that there are more people today to kill.

But ignoreing that, they killed people in the name of communism, not because of “atheism”.

Despite US propaganda, the USSR was never anti-religion. They were simply anti-alternative power bases. Such as the churches.

I find that very hard to believe, to my knowledge Cuba has never been an anti-religious state.
