I am a 14 year old person and I seem to know how to run this country better than about 9/10s of Congress. Can someone explain this or does American Democracy just suck

I really doubt that you could run this country better, but I am curious. What would you do to fix things?

1. Get rid of ALL on the hill and hire people who actually stand for the people. 2. Get drilling while putting quite a good amount of money in to alternatives like wind or electric. 3. Finish up ALL terrorists [ Hunt and kill anyone who wants to destroy peace and order ] 4. Improve relations with all countries [ Especially Russia , China , North Korea , Cuba , Venezuala, Nam , and some African and Central Asian countries that hate us ] 5. Disassemble all but a few emegency ones and use there parts for other non war purposes. 6. Just get rid of money and we just live in harmony with each other

Hey, dctaco12….as Aldir said, You only think you know.
I’d be on your side with promoting peace with the countries that have bad relationships with the US. But with some of your ideas, such as the drilling, I’m against that, along with quite a few other people. This is America. We have democracy here. You have to follow the people’s wills. You can’t just take your own ideas.

The majority of america does agree with drilling and peace

1. How do you distinguish the ones that ‘stand for the people’ as you say it? How do you deem them competent?

2. What do you mean by electric? How are these sources ( I presume you meant water and wind ) going to fuel our transport?

3. Sorry, but that’s just silly, going on a killing spree, giving out accusations who is a terrorist and who is not one.

4. How do you want to improve relations with countries that have their own interests without sacrificing your own goals/interests and keep your society/nation optimistic/feeling safe?

5. I presume you meant nuclear warheads? And how would having let’s say 10 warheads be different from having a thousand?

6. Get rid of money? Equality for everyone? You know you aren’t the first one with that idea. Socialists beat you to it. You won’t resolve people’s problems with putting them in the same spot (economically speaking). People have egoism and competitiveness written all over them, they will just find something else to compete over.

This post is not to slack you in any way. I can see you are still only fourteen. When I was your age I wanted the same things as you do now, it’s just that things are much harder then they seem to be when you don’t know much about them ( in detail of course ).

Well put, penguin84, well put. Your points are rather well constructed and presented.

When I was your age I wanted the same things as you do now

Yeah, me too. When I was younger, I had such a perfect view of the world and everything was much much simpler; in black and white.

Unfortunately the world is full of gray areas and often there is no clear distinction between what is right and what is wrong.

Thanks Paladin, save that to your Pipboy2000 :) BTW are you anticipating Fallout3?

Sort of actually… hope that they don’t turn it into an Oblivion version of Fallout. Man…. I really miss BIS (Black Isle Interactive). They really make great games back in those days.

1. town, city, or community leaders who are fair and have a truely good reputatiion
2. WHAT! The scientists say natural gases [ except ethonal ] are good clean alts
3. Intel, the CIA, and spies
4. That is a good question, I guess try to convert as many countries as possible to a peaceful government without threatning national security
5. what if some crackhead takes over a hostile country and starts remaking them, Just threaten to blow the crap out of them
6. I guess a persons ambition will always drive them to be the most powerful

1. My answer is two fold: good reputation/fairness doesn’t make you an expert in economics/national security/education/foreign politics etc. and there is also a saying that power corrupts.

2. Natural gases expire after some time (just like oil or coal does), are much more harder to harvest and possibly less efficient than oil. Seeing as there is still enough oil in the world to run it for a couple of decades I wouldn’t even go to harvesting natural deposits of gasses such as methane (which btw is highly explosive). If you’d do so then you would rally see an increase in prices.

3. So basically you would like to do what the Soviet secret services were doing all along after the 2WW (it’s just they were seeking the enemy in their own country)? secretly murdering people? That’s just silly bordering on the verge of paranoia. Besides there are no laws that give you the right to convict someone for a crime he is about to commit (this concept was nicely introduced in “Minority Report”)

4. I do think we settled this one. Problem is your government is at the moment acting quite aggressive, so I know where that might have come from.

5. Well I presumed you were talking about your own country’s warheads, cause I’d find it impossible to disable a foreign country’s military potential, without hostile actions towards that country.

6. This I supposed we also settled :)

OK I’m anxiously waiting for your reply.

Regards,

(:>

EDIT: To make paragraphs press Enter x 2. I donn’t know why, but if you do it once it doesn’t seem to work.

Also going back to 1st here are some fun facts for you:

candidate 1) heavy smoker, drinks 8-10 martinis a day, has two lovers, is tied to corrupted politicians, consults an astrologist.

candidate 2) drinks a beer occasionally, is a war hero, a vegetarian, doesn’t smoke.

candidate 3) sleeps till noon, used opium in school, drinks a quarter of a Liter of Whisky every evening, has been already sacked twice from his former job.

Which one would you choose cause:

1) is Roosevelt
2) is Hitler
3) is Churchill.

1.The fairness/non couruptness gives them to let the people decide wat they want instead of being a dick
2.natural gases expire?
3.Never become the soviets , ever
4.i guess so
5.sure maybe getting rid of your nukes could make others do the samw
6. yes we did

1. You have to understand that people in work (working in the government is also work) have limited resources, limited time, someone above them and also certain goals that they have to accomplish. People especially in the government aren’t there to annoy you for the sheer fun of it.

Imagine you work as a clerk in a store a guy comes in a wants to buy some gum. He gives you a fifty and you say you don’t have any change and there is no way in getting any change. The guy first yells at you for being incompetent (how could you have known that someone will try to buy a 50cent gum with a 50$ bill?!) even though you try to calm down the situation he is still mad and goes to your manager and tries to get you fired. You get it? You had good intentions, but you still got slapped. Well it’s the same with politicians. Believe me there are far more lucrative jobs outside the government for people with their knowledge. they choose this kind of career because they want to make a difference and improve their own country’s functioning.

Also it’s hard to contradict your statements without you giving certain examples.

2. Yes natural deposits of gases expire, just like oil or coal. What gases are you exactly talking about?

3. But you do become when you start this kind of actions.

5. Again no offence but this is quite naive (although I’d hope for something like that I wouldn’t count on it at all).

also I edited my last post care to check plz.

[ Hunt and kill anyone who wants to destroy peace and order ]

Wow that is just dripping with irony.

Most of these so-called terrorists are people with a different opinion and idea that is being repressed, and the only solution left for them to get attention and to get people listening to them is a last and violent resort.

Unfortunately even AFTER that, people do not wish to listen to them.

There aren’t really that much real terrorists in the world, most that get labeled terrorist are just fighting for their rights.

No, dctaco12 is extremely idealist and naive (primarily because he’s young, most likely). He has some nice intentions but they’d never work in the real world.

BongHits420: I’m not a big fan of the “stop violence with violence” philosophy.

BongHits420: Bullshit. I find a nice .45 does the trick.

Errr…what? Self-contradictory much? :-P
