Maybe others (sorry, but it sounds very “Christian”, at least according to what I heard from some of them, and what we could see just 200-400 years ago) – not me though.
I learned a whole lot, by exactly looking into the logical chains of WHY A leads to B.

I would still be confused by the fact that I could technically eat the platypus “fish” on Friday because it was declared a fish.

Verse 10: All that do not have fins and scales [that are] in the oceans and rivers; of any creature that creeps in the water and of any living creature that is in the water; they are repulsive to you.
Verse 11: They shall be repulsive to you, you shall not eat of their flesh and their carcasses shall be repulsive by you.
Verse 12: Anything which does not have fins and scales in the water, is repulsive to you.

Find me a single word “fish” in there. :D

If we are talking about Catholicism specifically? Theorically, yes, althought in the pratice, any other religion that preached we should do good for others( In another words, in its very core, any religion ) would do as well. Naturally, we are hereby assuming it wouldnt slow down technological progress, nor affect our policies. Two things that are important, as they significantly reduce the negative impact of the radicals in our society, and most of the damage religion deal is caused by people who see what they want to see in the Bible, triyng to use it as a justification of their own pride. But religion as a basic concept is actually a positive force, as it gives people something really important: Hope for a better world. And THAT, is something our civilization always needed…

Catholic would be a bad choice. We had centuries with the majority of the west being Catholic and it just gave the Vatican license to abuse thier power. And look at how they were in Ireland, defending pedophilles and punishing those they raped.

I do wonder what things would be like if all the world was Non Demontinal Christian, but giving the Vatican that much political power would be horrific.
