Attention all vegans and vegitarians!!

If due to some research, it was found out that plants could actually speak/scream, but their language is so high pitched that we couldn’t hear it without proper technology… What would you do? What would you eat? How would you deal with the fact that you killed entire families and ripped apart loved ones? I know this sounds like a very psychotic question but just answer it.

They would starve, I’m guessing.

There’s no way for them to speak/scream, it’s just not possible. They don’t have the appropriate anatomy. As a vegan, if I found out plants could speak/scream I would keep eating them, what else could I do? Starve? It’s a stupid question, not a psychotic one.

So they can feel emotion now too? Most AX threads have some possible truth, this just isn’t possible. Plants do not have brains, and have no possible way of feeling emotion.

Considering a lot of animals end up eating their own children, depart from their parents after a short period of time, don’t even get to meet their parents, and are mostly void of emotions towards other animals, I would say no, we’re not doing the same with meat. It is rare that an animal really cares about another, like your pet cares about you, specially when they’re grown in captivity. I’d actually say there are no emotional relationship between animals bred for meat.
The proposition done by this thread is far from being possible, so keep that in mind.

Funny, since they don’t have a central neural system – they only react to stimulus, like jellyfish. No pain, no feelings, no anything. Care to provide any trustful source?

I wouldn’t call a google search proof but here “East Lansing, MI – Researchers from Michigan State University discovered that plants have a rudimentary nerve structure which allows them to feel pain” That’s pretty much all I found on that.

Hmm. It’s an interesting question but gosh, we have to eat something. I would say that the more conscientious people would invent cruelty free ways of killing their plants, just like we do with some animals.

This has actually been covered in short story called the Sound Machine, where an inventor discovers that plants make high-pitched noises every time they are cut.
But honestly, it wouldn’t make a difference if plants could make such noises. It would be impossible for them to communicate with other plants, as they have no brains. Even if they could feel pain, they would be unable to know the meaning of it. So the only smart thing to do would be to continue eating plants or start eating meat, because everything we eat is either plant or meat, so might as well eat something.

Then I guess they would be on a egg only diet.

pain… it comes from your structure mostly, you not feels pain though because you able to ‘realize it’ or you would be able to stop it with your mind if that would be the case ^^

About the theory if they would trully talk and so… you still cant kill entire families at once if you not about the eat the appletree too or so…

The world wont mind it, the vegetarians would come with the question how intelligent are they, and either would decide not to mind or eat things made in labors but thats expensive or think about the less painful method to kill the fruit, like how will it die the quickest way, with causing the less pain for it to make the necesity to eat them not go into inhumanity!

You wrong if you thinking they wont mind afterward what are they eating and becomes careless about what they eat because everything would be the same with feelings and knowledge about it to think with it. If animals and plants are equal, they still wont eat meat for sure! Why? Because while it would only be science what proves plants can think with their pain the animals even with no ‘brain can feel pain and closer to us than plants with their form and cries before of us when they die, we not like thinking about that. There would be still other reason why not to eat the animals. Do you ever heard the sentence that the entire world eating problem would be solved with not feeding animals to eat them? Of course people would make that it still wont, but lets return into this question. I guess you only kills 1 with eating the animal but that needed to kill many plants to live durring its life while you not stoped to eat plants either so you eated and feeded one too looks like a vaste… and the animaleating still would seem disgusting. So what would happen? You wrong with it if you thinking vegetarians wont mind it afterward because they would just left reduced to be in the same shit world where others are with not careing about, they still would have Choices about this for themselves.
Looking after how much intelligence do plants has in your fantasy world, if they all has equal one then they would be planting the biggest plants to make the killing less in numbers. With time researcher maybe could make plant with no ’brain’ what counted as that >.> Of course this only concern vegetarians, lets come out from the fact that they wont make farms with not to eat plants as they not making for animals what are produced to be eated, they need to be concerned with a lot in this world, it would be pointless, effort with no meaning, so we wount have a relationship better with plants even if they as intelligent as animals we wont be nearer to them, they wont be saved unless some plant not going into the point to become nearly dying out specie, so no big changes if all not just alive but can think too, this question would only matter for vegetarians who not the most in population.

Oo strange image since who can make moves always becoming the specie who need to try to be more… Just imagine yourself that you losing the ability to move your body and you are alone in the place where you lost your ablility to move, and nothing happens around you. Imagine you still not need food so wont die because of that… How longly will you has your intelligence if you not need it anymore? (I guess the type of intelligence makes it depending, i can imagine a higher intelligence than ours with it who can simply live in itself, but imagine yourself and you would become unsane because your brain not getting information to think with it from outside would turn against you, so in the end brainless.,,
Lets leave plants with little intelligence for your own benfit then xD
