I have just read an article by Dr Russell Humphrey ( a physicist employed by a creationist organisation in America ); he proffered ‘proof ’ that everything was created 6000 years ago! The pseudo science in his reasoning looked authoritative at first viewing it but with a general knowledge of physics flaws could easily be found with his ’ proofs ’. Despite the Catholic church’s acceptance of the age of the universe and evolution organisations around the world still view the Bible as an historical document. Why? I would love to hear your thoughts on this; and if you are a creationist your reasoning would be appreciated.

I would like to see this so-called “proof” of his. Of course, it must be scientific.

1 – No1 knows the age of the universe, the most shared hypothesis is 13 bilion years.
2 – Don’t talk on behalf of Catholic church, mister farroutfarr
3 – This is not a serious discussion

3 – This is not a serious discussion I am glad to see that you do not subscribe to the creationists belief that the universe is 6000 years old and I agree that no-one knows the true age of the universe; however science is a lot closer than the creationists! As for me speaking on behalf of the catholic church I am stating fact. Pope Pius XII in the fifties said science and the church could work in harmony, although he qualified this with his ’ theistic ’ evolution and monogenism. John Paul II, who studied science further, dragged the church out of the dark ages. Now please tell me knifegrinder….. what do you consider a serious discussion?

Maybe it would be one that shows a modicum of RESPECT for Kong guidelines that HOPE a poster will research OTHER THREADS that have similar content and post there…..as in one of the 2,036 other “religious” threads we have floating around in SD…..eh?

And that’s why I gave up on the list of topics masterhead.
Although it is a little better than 300 pages of “No, you!”.
