But where people have discussed the argument in the question does that not validate the thread in the first place?
Actually, the very fact that the thread is being discussed shows there’s interest in serious discussion on a gaming website. That does mean the question is answered, and there’s not much more discussion.

Suggestions usually go in the suggestions thread. There was also a thread in the Kongregate forum asking for a formal discussion (?) section, which is what I agree with for two reasons:
1. It will prevent trolls from posting topics such as “dear serious discussion, I am seriously starving, I am seriously considering to seriously choose between two seriously delicious meals. These seriously are serious apple pie and serious chocolate cake. Seriously. I now seriously want serious answers. This is serious discussion after all”.
2. It will allow people to be relieved from the spam in OT and the too-serious attitude here.
I’m not taking you very seriously currently, but you might truly be, so if you want it to happen, go support it in that thread or in the suggestions thread.

From a business perspective, it is beneficial for Kongregate to host a variety of boards, including SD, to convince people who both play games and enjoy serious discussion to use the site more frequently. It’s not a bad board though. Also, I think this SD board is more accepting of teenagers and even younger children who want to experience serious discussion and get involved in controversies than other sites which host serious discussion boards; those ones tend to be very adult-oriented.

Why is there “serious Discussion” on a gaming website?
“Serious Discussion” is an asylum for the lunatic fringe. It keeps our kind of “controversial” shenanigans out of the more site related forums. Can you blame them?

Because this website has thousands of users browsing the forums. If you don’t like it just go to a different sub-forum. There is dozens to choose from, and completely different forums too. It’s nice to come to a place full of people with similar interests and talk with them about serious topics.

This website has Serioous Discussion because there are actually enough people that will actually use it, mainly a combination of serious, thoughtful people and those who talk out of their ass. Remember rule 41 of the internet, if you comment, trolls will come (made up a few seconds ago).

Only when you’re on the toilet reading the newspaper…then you are both.
Otherwise you’re mainly just an angry young man that shouldn’t be allowed around kittens or children…
