Just asking cause whenever i see that show on tv i quickly change the channel.
I got angry when i saw this one kid
Getting her eyebrows waxed off,
And she didn’t want to do it either!
But the mother did it anyway,
Plus this one mom was teaching her child how to Bleach her teeth! WTF,
And than we have Honey Boo-Boo child with her Go-Go juice,
Yea, thats really good for her kidney,
Just think when the kids get dressed up as cowgirls and models, they try to make Them show as much skin as possible,
Than they have to put on TONs of makeup,
To make them look like adults.
But just think about all the freaks that watch this show just to get Aroused. EW.
Sorry for the long topic, It’s just depressing when i see moms trying to put their
Dreams on their children.

The whole ‘business’ should be cancelled.
Just pass a law defining a lot of the associated activity as child abuse, that’d work.

It’s very poor parenting. Is it really as bad as the show makes it out to be? Probably not, a lot of it is probably drama. But regardless of that, it’s still terrible for the kids and it sets a horrible example, and has no redeeming qualities for the show.
It’s disgusting.

The sad thing is enough people watch it regularly that it isn’t off the air yet.

God, This show, and the practice of this, should be stopped. It is 100% child abuse.

100wipeout, I fully understand your “angst” on this issue. I do. It saddens my heart also.
NeilSenna, I agree about the “cancel it” objective.
I just can’t “get on board” w/ the “pass-a-law” consideration. I do think there are parts of that shit that very likely do fall under existing laws relative to child abuse. BUT, such abuse is soooooo very mild in comparison to “real” abuse & the social services are stretched to the limit as it is……ya know, those “fun-luving” conservative and their disdain for such “gument interference” in ppl’s lives,,,,taking MY tax $$$$$ and spending it on dumb ass poor ppl who just sit in front of a TV all day, liquored up & high on dope, eating food better than mine. Our current Gov. Brownback wants to cut such services even deeper.
BUT, I’m a huge believer in making other efforts BEFORE making such things subject to LAWS.
I’m mostly talking about: E D U C A T I O N.
Knowing “better” won’t “cause” most ppl to “do better”.
BUT, it can “move the bar” a little higher and make some of these mothers THINK about what they are doing to//for their child. It might make their friends//relatives//co-workers//etc. think about and respond to them in a manner that might exert some “influence”.
“Justice” must be just & fair….even for stooopid ppl & their actions.
Ya can’t legislate away stoooopidity.

the tv show only sheds light on what’s going on over there. it’s not the tv show that’s the problem or that should be stopped…

I might want it to, but it probably wont, as it still gets views, though that’s not entirely bad, as the more publicity it gets the more people are aware of it and may then want it gone for various reasons… Which then leads to less publicity of the practice, which possilby leads to the practice getting either bigger, or more accepted… Which then leads to people becoming aware of it and trying to get rid of it… Did I just find a catch 22?
Either way, though, we still have South Park. (Dear God, do we have South Park.)

Publicly executing the parents seems like a reasonable solution.

It’s just a show about parents with poor self esteem trying to redo their shitty lives through the lives of their kids. They should all jump off cliffs.

While I agree it is a dumb show and the whole 3 year old pageant thing is a horrible idea, I don’t think the show should be cancelled because if anything, the show exposes the issue of children being forced to participate in these pageants and do things that could potentially be harmful to their health.
Eventually, I’m sure there will be a law passed preventing some of the more unlawful aspects of child pageants partially thanks to the exposure given by TV shows like toddlers & tiaras.

I assume the audience is filled with pedophiles for these pageants. But yeah, it really should be canceled.

Cancelling the show won’t do any good. I think what the OP is really trying to say is that child beauty pagents are wrong and should not be allowed. Get rid of the pageants, and the show will go away on its own.
My take on these pageants is that it is a sort of abuse if the child is forced into it. But there are some children on the show who actually like being in the pageants. The most obvious example being the one who got her very own spin-off.

We have a winner.
This a sad but true “fact-of-life” about humans.
I often find myself soooo ashamed because I unconsciously “gave in” to it.

It’s still there, very much so, in fact. It’s just that not only are there possibly pedos in the making with this (or we’re just giving them better material), which could cause some… No-nos, there is also the possible child abuse and ethical problems with more or less forcing a less kid to do this.

While personally would like to see that tv show taken off the air…it doesn’t appear that they are breaking any laws…so, damn it, what can you do except change the channel and hope those kids come out of it all ok.

Ya know,,,,in reading what ya wrote….
AND the fact ya used the word “EAT”,,,
it dawned on me that ya could just as easily been talking about our American “fast-food//junk-food diet”.

what’s the point in taking the show off the air? IT WOULD STILL BE HAPPENING!
so the only thing that’s important here about these kids being sorta abused like that is that you don’t know about it?

I think keeping the show on air only glorifies it and to some extent legitimises it. But as I said before, no crime or law breaking is being committed so it has the right by law to be on air.
Even with it on air what can be done to ‘help’ the children? Being on air the children are essentially being exploited even more…isn’t this what their parents want? Fame?

I don’t think it’ll ever die out…somethings last for ever, no matter how vile they are…take Morris dancing for example.

Yes, there have always been paegents, I think Verbing makes a fair point, but I’d like to add that these paegents never reached a massive audience. As I’ve said before, having it on television gives the parents more ‘justification’ to push their children…I just don’t think it’s something that should be given such wide attention.

somehow, i’m sure they featured children as young as that in 1994, which i’m presuming is well before toddlers and tiaras.
if the show is keeping it alive by bringing in money then yes, but i’m not so sure there is such a dependency.
