During the summer me and my ‘friend’ were in a fight over X-Box LIVE part-chat. We were not in school session, not even in a physical fight. No threats were held, I was just irritated at him and he was mad at me too. A fight between two teen-aged guys. No biggie.
Then we got into another argument when school started, and he used that fight against me. He told the Dean of Students that we got in a fight, and that I was heavily White Power. He said my bio, motto, and name had WHITE POWER on it on Xbox LIVE, and this was untrue as well. The point of this story is that because I was insulting him over Xbox, I got suspended for ‘Cyber-Bullying.’
So now, apparently, in Cali, you can get suspended for fighting with people over the internet, after school, on weekends, AND during summer. This is clearly unfair and injustice.

If the school is suspending people without any sort of investigation, they have much deeper problems than their propensity for being cyber police.

They did in fact investigate, they asked me for my xbl gt and they saw it said my real name and all, nothing to do with white power, and they still suspended ME only for cyber-bullying. Also, another case:
Theres this guy that no one likes, and the QB and line-backers of our team txted him calling him a faggot and then he showed the Dean and those kids got suspended and couldn’t play the next 3 games. Truth be told he started it anyways, he started the conversation.

Well if it happened at school then it is the school’s business. This is a relatively new thing though, so there aren’t really standards. It is going to be rocky for awhile no matter how you look at it.

Attempting to talk to someone makes bigotry okay?

Suspending someone for that kind of behavior doesn’t make one a dumbass. Calling someone names because you don’t like their actions might though.

Why do you think this?
cause i see it in my school boys become friends over time
lots of fight s in my school lol
but no gun or knife and respect is gilded and formed over time
So instead of dealing with the issue in an intelligent way you think it better for them to beat the hell out if each other. Right then okay.

I missed the times when the students trash it out among themselves…. it’ll lead to a variety of troubles but at least they face their problems…. not manipulating some authoritative figure to act on behalf….

Because physical violence is totally the way mature adults deal with problems.

Then you get some sadist who beats up the other people and says it was “Over an issue” Also, If there is like some giant 7 foot guy in your school then do think people will fight him to get friendship!? This is the 21st century in a Western (Well, I don’t know for sure) country!

Cause you know its totally better to solve issues by beating the hell out of each other rather then by a more intellectual process.

There are more ways to being physical…. as the affair is between them why pull the others who are not involved? It looked like using the school system to settle a personal difference for that case.

I think school principals and stuff are confusing honest fights with bullying, nowadays.

Unless blackmailing or fraud is involved, I don’t see how people can be bullied over the internet….
