Lets say some one is posting racist comments on my “wall” on facebook. I can just go to privacy settings and block the person and never have to deal with them there again. I think in the OP example he was in a conversation on xbox live the kid could have just muted him or left the party if he did not like what he was saying.

So letting bullies push people around. How is that an improvement to the situation again?

Ignoring them and eliminating them takes away the one thing someone with a Narcissistic personality disorder wants: Attention

I doubt that works with bullies. You are thinking of trolls maybe.

Not letting a bully be my friend on facebook or join my xbox live party is being pushed around by a bully? Walking away is often times a totally acceptable way to solve conflict.

Always is an interesting word (along with never). You may think you won but, unfortunately, the other guy thinks the same thing.

If only life were that simple. However that is missing the point, which is that cyber-bullying does occur; whether you can take steps to avoid it is another issue.

Cyber-bullying. Well, “there is no fire without smoke.” Something must of happened for bullying to be a rational response. If the bully acted first, then you mute/ignore/block them.

I have been cyber-bullied many times. I don’t care. At all. They are just temporary digital files that will be removed eventually.

Since when has bullying ever been a rational response?

They are just temporary digital files that will be removed eventually.

Something doesn’t have to be permanent to have an effect. It’s great that you don’t let it get to you, but that doesn’t work for everyone.

I find that people are over sensitive when the internet is involved, and that is why I always save my MSN conversation if I get into a fight over it. That way, if they accuse me of saying bad things, I can show them that I didn’t initiate it or respond in a harmful manner. The good thing about the MSN saved conversations is that you can’t edit the file once it is down, therefore the accuser can’t make up things and use it as evidence. The key not to get in trouble for Cyber-Bullying when you are being falsely accused is to always take the first action.

No fire without smoke doesn’t really match with bullying being a effect of a cause. For example, you can be bullied just for your race and that probably doesn’t have any just cause. A bully can bully people for almost no reason, it just lies in the intention and state of mind of the person.

Oh yes. Yes you can. It’s just an XML file.

I can assure you that most trolls leave when they are not given attention.

But the rare ‘super troll’ actually thrives on lack of attention, and that is what makes them dangerous to a forum.

If a ‘super troll’ attaches itself to a forum, it will always end badly for both parties involved.

I know this due to my years of moderation experience on over 10 well known forums.

Most people can’t deal with long term verbal abuse that well. Anyway, blaming the victim doesn’t solve any problems, it just makes those problems less frequently reported.

Giving in to weakness is not a solution either. If there’s a way to immunity(which is very possible) to vebal abuse then there wouldn’t be a problem.

Since when has bullying ever been a rational response?

If not rational, then it must be natural. Normally the bully does so as there nothing stopping them, regardless if they know its right or wrong.

Always is an interesting word (along with never). You may think you won but, unfortunately, the other guy thinks the same thing.

Yeah. Win win situation.

Eh…. you forgotten about the power hungry. Those that constantly need to prove to themselves that they are better than others.

Prove (or at least attempt to)? Or I’d flag your post for being unnecessary.

I have no reason to suspect them yet, but the spin on Corados is suspicious, and the posting style. Vanguard also claimed to be a mod at other places. But all of that does not matter, florados is a perfectly functioning poster. Vanguarde is tearing you guys apart.
