I don’t want this to be a battle topic, I just want an unbiased opinion;
If you knew nothing about computers, and were not preferenced in anyway, which would you get based on these two articles?:
PCs are better
Macs are better

In my opinion PC is better for the average user, it’s better for gaming, the instant messaging clients are better and most casual programs only have versions for Windows.
But for corporations and whatnot Macs are better.

Macs are incompatible with most software. Vista was more compatible than an average Mac. Macs are overpriced, underpowered (the processors and the memory), but they do look good and come with more software standard.

Well the mac article said mac are PC’s so i guessing PC then.
But in all actuality judging by the articles i would go with the PC one. The PC one said to me “PC’s kick ass and Macs can suck it”, while the Mac one said “macs are nice and simple to use but you might like a PC better if you know what your doing”.

Do not use Vista or Windows ME as an example, they’re both ridiculously terrible.
Windows 7/XP, however, are far superior.
We also have more reasons to be better (PC). :P

I’m using Vista right now, and its still better than a Mac. That should totally be their new ad campaign! I can’t wait to upload 7, though. It’s got a whole bunch of new features, like the snap window thing. I could do research, and watch music videos at the same time!

Macs are fantastic for the small percentage of people who really need it for their creative jobs; graphic designers, music mixers, artists, etc. it’s nearly unmatched in capability. As for most of us folk, PCs are generally more rounded for internet use and gaming. I can’t really do much on a mac other than use photoshop and email.
What bother me are the millions of people who take “sides”, like it’s religion. I don’t understand this bitter rivalry, both have their very well established niches on the technology market, it’s not like a Mac user is going to try to stab a PC user in the face or vice versa. Why do Mac people and PC people act like they’re in some sort of gang war?

I honestly don’t know… and I support PCs over Macs, quite often to the extreme.

Those articles pretty much show the PC to be superior. So the Mac has less glowly lights and starts faster, I’m not sure that is worth the extra money.

I wonder though, is it really cost effective? I work with photographs a lot, so that has been a constant consideration. So far I’ve stuck with PC’s because they are comparatively cheaper.

I use both all the time, and I still have trouble using macs. PC’s are just easier to use. I’d like to see PCs having something like dashboard though…

Because of the nature of the Mac OS and their contracts with Adobe, yes, it is. Adobe practically makes most of their software specifically for Mac, they’re remarkably clean, fast and powerful programs. Plus on a Mac you can click and drag almost anything to almost anywhere, making layering on an image or sound file effortless.

If you are so deadset in your ways that you can’t use one or another, you just cut your chances of being hired by half.
Just sayin’.

Maybe I’ll try a Mac next then, we’ll see.

What businesses use Macs?
Graphic designers, 3D animators, etc
But yeah, the common ones that you’ll most likely get employed on use Windows.

PC. Always have. Always will.
Oh, and btw, did you notice, the “PCs are better” has 32 reasons, while “Macs are better” has only 15. =P

And they have reasons like “they has moar lights”.
Well, it’s all up with what you’re going to use your computer for.

Using the term “PC” is supposed to imply that you are referring to personal computers. The best way to use PCs in a comparison is something like: “PCs or MP3/4 players for your movies and music?”
You should change the title to “Mac OS, Windows, Linux or Other?”. If you are referring to hardware, ask “Is Mac hardware better than the others or not?”
With the above purposely allocated, I personally use Mac hardware, but use pretty much any OS you will hear about.
Mac OS X is best for the person who is just using a computer or someone who needs something that just works. This is why it is super hard to change the hardware. Mac users don’t want compatibility issues.
Other PCs are better for the average user (cost) and for those who are poly-curious (in terms of hardware). Ability to change hardware is great, but there is an obvious downturn. Compatibility issues may arise, which is financially negative.
Until Microsoft makes their own personal computers, I will stick with Mac hardware.

Basically, any business that Steve Wozinak is on the board of directors, is a good first start.

Have you seen some of the ads for Windows 7? They’re adding in some impressive new features that not even Apple has thought of yet. Granted, they may not get up to Mac levels, but the snap screen thing looks really cool. And the Microsoft TouchTable is slated to come out for commercial purposes next year.

Windows works. It is compatible with a wider array of software and hardware. You can easily upgrade a windows based computer: you can’t upgrade a Mac as easily. PC has become a general term for a Microsoft computer, seeing as IBM invented the PC, and they in turn made processors for anybody for didn’t use AMD processors.
