Immorality Causing Earthquakes

(I’m not so familiar with the cultures outside of the US, so I am Going to use that as a prime example.) We all know the CA (Los Angeles, San Francisco) area is very prone to earthquakes. We also know (not being racial/specifically referring) that most of the crap of America originates from there (Hollywood, moviestars, etc.) which promotes immoral behavior. Assuming there is a God (which I belive) regardless of your religion, do you think He causes these natural disasters for this reason?

It couldn’t have anything to do with it being on a fault line, right?

Also everywhere along the pacific “volcano ring” (or something along the lines) gets a lot of earthquakes (i.e. Japan, Russia).

Look, it’s probably natural, but hypothetically from a religous veiw it IS a possibility…

It is also possible the earthquakes are just God trying to contain the immense amount of awesome in those regions, but random assumptions like that won’t get us anywhere.

Sure, just like from a Pastafarian’s point of view, it’s possible to see the Flying Spaghetti Monster on Christmas eve. Possible, but highly unlikely and unrealistic.

Besides, look at places of high immorality like Las Vegas, Amsterdam and New York. You don’t see earthquakes there, do you?

I believe that finkidz5 is right. Study some of these natural disasters that have so terribly affected the US in the last 5-10 years. You see Katrina coming through and cancelling a gay parade. You see record forest fires when gay marriage is being passed in CA. I know the topic is earthquakes, but the concept is the same. This is a wake up call by God.

I meant any disaster (like you said) but I used earthquake as an example.

Yes God is a homophobe, and is therefore killing other people to show how gross homosexuals are

I don’t beleive it is god punishing immorality. It is due to the plates shifting, where it is more common in CA.

Wikipedia has a nice policy that goes something along the lines of “do not give undue balance”. I rather like that policy, even though its often misunderstood, and I think the general idea applies just as well here.

The worst fire in California was in October, 2003. The same month as the 25th anniversary of Pope John Paul II and the beatification of Mother Teresa. Clearly these events were the reason for the fire.

I would like to point out that an omnipotent being like YHWH would be capable of acting solely through natural means, and natural means would be detectable by science. Please show me where in the original texts of the Bible it is written that God Hates Fags. If you’re a Christian, remember that the Old Testament’s rules don’t apply!
