Hi again, Vanguarde here.
This will be one of my classic type threads.
What human filth do you speak of, Vanguarde?
This kind:

She is the ‘mother’ ( I use that term loosely) of Shaniya Davis:

Look how cute she was. She was found dead after a week long search. She was 5 years old, and her scum mother sold her into child prostitution, to this dirtbag:

Why is this scum smiling? Does he think murder is funny? Does he think this entire affair is a joke?
So, back to my topic. What human filth? The ‘mother’ of this little girl who was sold into the child sex trade…. is pregnant – again.
My question is this – should mothers and fathers who are convicted of these types of crimes, selling their own kids into sex slavery, be force sterilized by the state?
I think so, I really do. I mean come on, selling your child for drugs, into a child sex ring? Then when the pressure is on, having that child killed? They should be lucky not to be executed, and be thankful of being sterilized.
Now her current baby, she will be giving birth in prison. Wonderful. I am so angry about this case I want to kill her and her scum friend on the bottom with my bare hands. Violence against children makes me VERY MAD, Vanguarde does not like it at all.
What do you think?

Freedom isn’t the perfect solution to all mankind’s problems, but forced sterilization is a bad idea. How do you judge “filth?” It’s a subjective term. I’m sure the conservative Christian fanbase would describe homosexuals as filth. Should they also be sterilized? I think rich white millionaires who screw people out of all their savings are filth. Should they, too, be sterilized? Morons who hand over their savings to rich white millionaires, only to lose all their money, are idiots. What about them?

The op’s idea really isn’t presented the best way it can be, with all the fallacies and whatnot, but I would describe “filth” in this situation as people who intentionally pose a danger to their children. Sterilizing would be a way to prevent this sort of thing.

Hasn’t it been proposed that convicted sex offenders be sterilized?

I rambled a bit, but my general point is this: NO. Forced sterilizations is a violation of our civil liberties. To allow it would be an abomination. Yes it sucks that the woman sold her child, and she’s a terrible excuse for a human being. But where do you stop once you start sterilizing undesirables? Eugenics is generally regarded as evil, regardless of your intent…

Eugenics was tried before, and has been found as a crime against humanity. Skinner vs. Oklahoma ruled “compulsory sterilization could not be imposed as a punishment for crime.” However, I think like 65,000 cases of sterilization did occur in the United States up until World War II, where Eugenics was linked to racism, so bringing that idea back really wouldn’t go well.

What we should do needs to be based on what is found acceptable. Looking to the past isn’t always the best idea, especially for war tactics. Using history to determine if it is acceptable should be done. If eugenics wasn’t connected with racism, then I would go for it. But it is. So, we find an alternative until we get over the whole eugenics/racism connection, assuming we haven’t already.

So we should just allow this female to have child after child while in prison, via visits from whatever man she calls ‘husband’ at the time?
This has nothing to do with racism, it is simple.
Should we allow a person who sells their kids to violent pedophile sex rings, to retain the ability to make more babies, to repeat the horror over and over?
I feel that a mother who sells her own child into a kiddie porn ring should NOT be allowed to ever breed again.
I don’t care if it’s eugenics, allowing someone like this to keep pumping out kids to be put in harms way is insanity.
Tie her tubes.

To do something like this you would need to define “human filth”

One must be politically correct to a point. You have passed the very thick line between political incorrectness and political correctness. If you want to do something, then change the opinion of society. Sue and lose. Bring it to the Supreme Court. That is how you can get things to change.

The prison could just stop allowing conjugal visits.

I’m going to say no, but…sterilization is treading some real risky ground. I don’t know really.

I am tempted to believe that we should sterilize people like this, but seriously, Vanguarde, we can use some sources. I mean, for all we know you just took 3 random pictures of different African-Americans and claimed that now it’s some sort of rape and murder case.

It’s a difficult one to comment on. It’s hard to say what should and shouldn’t be done as a blanket decision to cover everyone, especially with something like removing someone’s ability to breed.
That said, with this particular case my revulsion overrides my morals, and I’d be happy to sterilise her myself.

LOL “I use that term loosely”. Ok more seriously but really I don’t think it will be considered “right” to sterilize her. Just put her in jail until she becomes sterile?

And what if he did? It doesn’t matter to his point at all.

And if she happens to get out? It’s not being proposed as a common punishment and there’s a reason slippery slope is a fallacy, posters. People who commit crimes against animals aren’t allowed to have pets anymore. People who commit crimes against their own children shouldn’t be allowed to have children anymore. It’s as simple as that.

Vangaurde is actually referring to a real case.
Animals like that, upon conviction, shouldn’t be allowed the priviledge of having children.

But there’s no logical reason to assume that a punishment that makes sense (people who commit crimes against their own children shouldn’t be able to have their own children anymore) would become a tyrannical nightmare world where people go to the eugenicist for unrelated infractions (you’ve committed too many burglaries, you have forfeited your testicles.)

I’d suggest alot bigger of a punishment then that.

I think this (sterialize punishments) has the same problem as the death sentence: it’s not revertable. If you sterialize somebody and he/she gets proven innocent later, you can’t un-sterialize her.
Sterialization is something that lasts for the rest of your life, and I don’t think we should do that if the crime isn’t hard enough to be put in jail for a lifetime – and if they are put in jail, then they can’t sell their children anyway.
The bible is against sterialization too, wouldn’t this sort of punishment offend many christians?

And if she happens to get out?
If she isn’t charged with a crime or has done her time, why would you continue to punish her? That would be the definition of unjust punishment.
It’s as simple as that.
I don’t think it is ‘simple’ at all; you are trying to compare not being allowed to own pets with forced medical sterilization. The latter is far more invasive, and violates a persons bodily integrity. That isn’t something you can do lightly.

One could get rid of the death penalty with the arguement against sterilization. As tempers rise, unreasonable things happen. Doing something irreversible is one of them. What if they turn their life around? They can’t do anything in prison, like you said Ajora. It would offend religious groups, and face heavy opposition. It would be a horrible thing to do. Why not force them to take birth control pills? If they are women, of course. Don’t know how to do that for men.

It doesn’t help that very well. It even says how a good decision can lead to a bad in the future because
of a slippery slope.

Yes and it also says how to make nonfallacious slippery slope arguments. I never said slippery slopes are all nonfallacious. Just pointing out that they can be.

Okay, so it is, but I could have used some sources before the argument started.
Anyways, I think that depending on the quantity and extent of the crime, you should or shouldn’t be sterilized.
