This could be interpreted in many different ways. My belief is that the power over our universe lies in perception, and thus, mankind, he who perceives. Man is capable of the greatest heights of morality as well as its darkest depths. When it comes to savagery, skill, cunning, art, panic, malicious intent, good and evil, Man has no equal. Man knows not his own power, so he creates the God to which to attribute all things that he does not think he controls. Man is conscious, man knows, man the merger of the animal and divine, a nature not even now fully understood. Man controls his world and man controls his fellow man. Is there anything left for God?

I cannot come to the conclusion humans are God with the story you wrote.

How about we assume what we want to assume and see what happens in the end?

And let us not forget the self-hypothesized theory that we exist within the mind of another man, an entire universe within his conscience, and this man is “God” because he can control everything within his mind. Of course, this man lives within the imagination of another man, and the chain continues forever

What humanity seeks in religion and calls ‘God’ is itself.

Completely . It ’s entirely one ’s belief of what , who , or their god or gods is / are . I try not to abrupt myself to conclusions , as I myself am a Catholic / Christian . P:

I guess I am a bit spiteful, but I completely hate the idea of god, just the idea, whether there is one or not.

I dislike it so much because god is seen as a “higher” being, a king, a ruler, and by me, a dictator. The concept of God also introduced the concept of inequality. By making some [people] higher than others, slavery and other forms of coercion and control gained legitimacy and authority was attained not by voluntary merit, but by such insipid and daft forms of acquisition as inheritance and holiness. I highly doubt that a higher being would believe in such a barbaric form of society as a monarchy, then again, in those times, that was the only form (coincidence?). But I digress, what the concept of god did was instil into the minds of people that inequality is a normal occurrence and gave the rulers legitimacy. At times, most predominately in Egypt, the rulers would claim themselves gods to control the people. Now however hypocritical the slave-owning elite were, I still find truth in the bleached out (by the Patriot Act) piece of paper where it says “all men are created equal”. God is obsolete.

Nope, still alive. My goal in life is to be immortal, so far so good. I wasn’t online so much, busy filling out college aps. Now I’m back on my desktop (which crashed for the last time!) so now I said fuck you Micro$oft and got Ubuntu :)

And thanks, glad I have fans.

Uh… no. For one, Mother Earth doesn’t give a rat’s ass if you are gay. On the other hand, God tells you to kill that mother fucker.

ok but doesn’t mother earth make it so gay people cant have off spring thus killing you off slowly. essentially doing what god commands, my only point is that earth can on its own, through completely natural processes cause many of the “atrocities” and “miracles” of god.

If you are going to assume everything in the Bible is true, then show me that your gracious earth can do these things naturally:

+Entire sea splitting in two to let the Jews pass but not the Egyptians
+World flooding
+A woman being turned into a pillar of salt
+A burning bush that doesn’t consume the bush itself
+The 10 plagues (including the death of every and only first born)
+Water flowing from rock

Guess that would keep you busy for a while. Tell me when you’re done.

I think you need to define what this “mother earth” thing is.

nature, natural selection, evolution natural course of natural things.

There is no “purpose” to any of those things and ascribing one to them that fits your preconceived notions is just as bad as doing the same to any religious text.

I would agree with the suggestion than man is god. Why? When someone comes in all messed up and bloody from doing something stupid, I have to patch them up. I have done this thousands of times, yet not one time did a ‘god’ help me patch up the patient.

To me, that makes me a god.

I will say this, if there is a god, he/she is really shy and hands off.

I think you and I are defining “god” differently.

It’s still close-minded to think that humans replace God. We don’t control the fate of the universe, and we are just another species of animals. By your logic, any other animal or not yet discovered life could replace God.

We don’t control the fate of the universe,

I think it’s closed-minded to assume that there is some being somewhere which does control the fate of the universe.

I think it’s close-minded to assume that anyone who believes in some being controlling the fate of the universe is close-minded.

Now can we all stop with this nonsense and accept that a man cannot be “god”, unless we define “god” very differently?
