I don’t think severe personal problems should be brought in here, unless it can help some to see a wider problem, and they present a bigger debate, or other atmosphere that would warrant good, clean, serious discussion.

I also love Matt’s words of ‘Stay Classy’ and I think that just sums it up for how everyone should be. Lets not engage in petty fights, but rather hold ourselves to a higher standard of debate, from which all can eventually benefit.

Now, please everyone, just have a good time, and try to think about what other people say, and try not to belittle someone’s thought, for the purpose of winning a debate. All-in-all, what we have to do is just…

I agree with “stay classy”, but I disagree about personal advice. I’ve seen a couple of advice threads come through here and get some very good, helpful, heart-felt advice. This is a forum for serious discussion, not just serious debate. While I agree that we may have to rethink this idea if we become flooded by these types of threads, for now I think they’re fine and a welcome addition to this forum.

A troll is mainly a person that tries to aggrivate people who don’t support his/her belief to create an emotional responce.

It seems Off-Topic seems to be dripping it’s cesspool of waste into Serious Discussion.

The obvious solution is to put serious above off-topic.

But then we’d get the toxic fumes.
Really a lose-lose situation here.

Anyway, seriously I haven’t noticed a lessening in the seriousness or quality of the discussion here. There are still the usual suspects making stupid threads etc., but we can usually manage to get a decent discussion out of even them.
