is the world in a crisis??. in my country, New Zealand the hydrolakes are going down, the price of petrol is up to around about $2.00 a litre, petrol discounts from supermarkets aren’t doing S**T, the water levels rising the ice is melting, they are about to split another atom which if they do succesfully they will be able to create people in science labs but they have a doubt that if the atom splits it might blow up the world. ARE WE IN A CRISIS???

It all depends on the definition of “crisis”. Yes, conditions are worsening, but such is entropy. And I’m pretty sure that atom thing won’t happen. |
I’m gonna say… no. The world’s in a pretty good place right now. |
By splitting an atom, you will definitly not blow up the world…Like….At all….. |
[please don’t use all-caps in your titles] While fission (splitting of atoms) certainly produces a lot of energy (see: atomic bombs), splitting atoms is hardly going to lead to the world imploding or anything… |
It will just be like, ” Okay, now just press this button…-” BOOM!! ” Holy s**t!! Lord help me! Aaahh!! ” Miles away…. * Looks up from newspaper * ” Did you hear a snapping twig? “ |
It’s not a crisis. We’re just moving ever closer to the Singularity. |
I believe he is referring to the LHC, but doesn’t really remember anything about it other than the oft-reported and never substantiated “dangers”. |

May 2008? I guess we are fine then. My brain isn’t working at all right now… Does it make me a pessimist to think that something bad is going to happen? As every day passes there is another .000001% chance that a huge comet will hit us or some country decides to nuke everyone I guess. New technologies are always giving more potential for both destruction and salvation. My hope is to see, in my lifetime, a massive global cultural change and it will probably take a crisis to make that happen. |
The world is always in a crisis. This too shall pass, but something else will take its place. |
well personnaly i think the world is in a crisis, because the air is being polluted the landfills are overflowing. scientists are saying that in another ten years if we keep going the way were going were gonna have to find another planet to live on. how can you not call that. A CRISIS. i rest my case |
how do u get the grren things areound the words???? |
the worlds in bad shape its not a world crisis though |
the world is in a crisis actually |
Nah, not even close. Things are pretty good right now. Crime is continuing to fall, medicine is advancing, technology is advancing, the international stage is less unruly than it was 50 years ago, or 100 years ago. Life expectancy is increasing… It’s all good. :) |
i know about terrorism, glomal warming, and that kinda thing. but its not enough to be a crisis. |
well what about president mugabe killing his own citizens and that like i said in 10 years we will need to have found another planet to move to because earth will be a wasteland. WHERE THE HELL ARE WE GONNA FIND ANOTHER PLANET WE CAN LIVE ON??? |
O! but of course we are in a crisis, we humans think we are above mother nature and that just aint right. |
Lemming is right people. |

What about that weird 2012 theory. The one with the Mayans and all that stuff? Edit: I used the search! (Finally….) http://www.kongregate.com/forums/2/topics/8945?... http://www.kongregate.com/forums/9/topics/8852 |

What about Mugabe? Petty despots and wannabe tyrants are nothing new, and the affairs of one small African nation hardly constitutes a “crisis” on the global scale. |
At the moment, the world isn’t in crisis. A crisis would be Fosil Fuels running out, solar flares, meteors etc. All the problems we have can be soughted and pose no real threat to the Human Race, so i wouldn’t consider it a crisis |
10 years? Probably more like 100. |
we don’t need another planet and its not like the worlds gonna blow up…:P |
