Do you think sex at around the age of 11-14 is okay? Share your opinions and add why you believe it is okay/wrong.

I don’t think it is okay to have sex at that age because children at that age have not matured enough to understand the risk and consequences. Besides, in most country, it is illegal to have sex with someone below 18 years old.

Yeah, in most developed countries, it’s illegal.

Well, illegality has little to do with it. The question I think is “are such laws justified”. Frankly, I agree though – I think they are. 16 and 17 I’m not so sure about, but under 16 very few people are equipped emotionally or mentally to fully be ready for sex. There are so many risks (emotional attachment/pain, pregnancy, STDs, etc.) that a minor really isn’t ready to deal with or evaluate. It’s the same reason they can’t sign legal contracts – they’re not mature enough to make life-long decisions.

Well, first and foremost, I think it’s wrong because the Bible says so. But.. ignoring that…
I also think it’s wrong because, again, they aren’t mature enough to do it. That should be the stage where boys are “icky!”.

The statistics on problems later in life are pretty compelling. The younger the age of first sexual experience, the more mental/emotional problems people have later in life. It isn’t just a physical act.

I disagree with that PFB. Boys are icky at 13 or 14? I hardly found that to be the case. I highly encourage dating once you get to your teen years – just keep the sex part for a few years later. Also, as far as I know, the Bible says nothing of young sex, only of pre-marital sex. Do you think if 13 year olds got married it’d be perfectly fine for them to have sex?

I’d like to see those statistics.

At age 11. I gues I exaggerated – they may not think them as “icky”, but it still isn’t the age to be dating or anything. I guess that if someone got married at 13, it would be all right, but the majority of society looks dwn upon young marriage, as do I.

But getting pregnant puts another life at risk. It’s no longer just them hurting themselves. Additionally, we’re not talking about consenting adults here – these are people who cannot sign legal contracts or make rules for themselves. As such, their rules need to be given externally. One might be able to argue that it’s the parents, and not the state, that should provide those rules, though in that case I would put the parents in jail if the kids ended up with an STD.
Wow – again, you surprise me PFB. You see nothing wrong with 13 year olds having sex if they’re married… Additionally, why on earth shouldn’t people be dating at 13 and 14? That’s the time that you’re beginning to learn about relationships and getting your social intelligence developed. It’s a perfect time to start dating, at least for many people.

I think its quite strange to have sex at 11. Im 13 and havent had sex ( sorry ) and i think it would be crazy to do that. 4th graders range from 9-11 so it would be VERY strange for a fourth grader to be having sex with one of his classmates 0.0 gross thought.edit: in fourth grade your body has not developed fully ( sorry again im so bad ) and it would just be plain wrong and gross for another fact.
read plz

No, it’s not “good” glompee. Perhaps you won’t end up emotionally scarred from it (or perhaps you will), but it’s certainly nothing to brag about. “Woooo, I’m irresponsible and foolish! I’m putting underage girls at risk of getting pregnant! Aren’t I cool?” By the way, I don’t have kids, and I did have a girlfriend when I was 14.
TheC – read what?

Kids have sex at 11-14? Can they even enjoy it? Have they matured enough to know what the heck they’re doing? Now 16, thats a whole ‘nother story. In North Carolina, that’s the age of consent. So when you hit that magic number then go for it I say.

I’m 14 and haven’t had sex =]
Also must agree with TheC, I had a friend who had sex at 9 because “She knew she wouldn’t get pregnant”

Thanks Phoenix. I’m sorry. Though most parents think you shouldn’t have girlfriends because they haven’t, and same for wimminz. I think that’s stupid. You can have girlfriends, just as long as you keep the jewels in your pants. Amirite?

It’s 16 only if the other person is no older than 20. Otherwise it’s statutory rape and is a felony in North Carolina.
Also, off topic, I found something very surprising out while looking over the NC laws: apparently pre-marital sex is actually illegal in this state (a class 2 misdemeanor). That’s freakin’ ridiculous.
§ 14‑184. Fornication and adultery.
If any man and woman, not being married to each other, shall lewdly and lasciviously associate, bed and cohabit together, they shall be guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor: Provided, that the admissions or confessions of one shall not be received in evidence against the other.

16 year olds will be having sex with other attractive people their age. Unless of course they’re exposed to a lot of random college kids(?) in which case the parents are to blame. I say sexual freedom for everyone over 16.

That is ridiculious. Good thing I don’t plan on going/live there =D

Oh by the way, North Carolina also has a law called “Crimes against Nature.” It says oral and anal sex are both illegal. How many people you see getting taken down for that?

§ 14‑177. Crime against nature.
If any person shall commit the crime against nature, with mankind or beast, he shall be punished as a Class I felon. (5 Eliz., c. 17; 25 Hen. VIII, c. 6; R.C., c. 34, s. 6; 1868‑9, c. 167, s. 6; Code, s. 1010; Rev., s. 3349; C.S., s. 4336; 1965, c. 621, s. 4; 1979, c. 760, s. 5; 1979, 2nd Sess., c. 1316, s. 47; 1981, c. 63, s. 1, c. 179, s. 14; 1993, c. 539, s. 1191; 1994, Ex. Sess., c. 24, s. 14©.)
I love how they don’t even define it…
Not that I’m condoning them for underaged people, but you’ve obviously never tried them Glompee.
