U.S. alone had never won a war in modern times 20 – 21 sentry, can it fight at all?
And all the Americas say that they would beat the USSR in cold war – i really doubt that. And if u say WW2 it doesnt count cause Uk and USSR did the biggest parts, they coulda won without U.S

Why does irak look wrong to me….
Yes, no one would have won the cold war though in terms of least deaths Russia would win, as well as most cities destroyed. The only way everyone would be killed would be carpet bombing, which the USSR win again because they have larger land mass.
The UK have enough tridents to get by thank you.

I fixed the spelling in your title. I’m not going to be a grammar police with posts, but a little more care with thread titles is appreciated. :)

The US has won essentially every major battle they have fought since WWII.
Their issue is not the ability to win battles, it is the lack of understanding of what to do outside of the direct fighting. They cannot use the tried and true methods of beating the populace into submission, so they’re stuck with hoping they populace welcomes them.
Russia is no better here. Nor is any other world power.

Nah, not really. You’ve failed in many places. Succeeded in killing large numbers of people of course, but that doesn’t win wars unless the killing destroys all opposition.

The problem is that winning doesn’t mean what it used to. We rarely fight countries anymore. We fight groups of people in those countries. It’s impossible to defeat a worldview. In one sense we won the war in Iraq when we overthrew the government, but have foundered when trying to set the country back up. Where did the war end there?

I doubt any country could win a war in Iraq, whether it be the U.S.A or anyone else. It’s essentially an unwinnable war…

The wars we are trying to fight are occupations. An occupation of a nation that doesn’t want to be ruled by outsiders is quite difficult. If we were fighting a defensive war in which our goal is to destroy the enemy utterly so they cannot attack us again, we would win in spades. We are fighting wars of aggression.

I was going to reply seriously until I saw this line. The USSR would probably have lived because of the relatively harsh winters, but the UK would definitely have fallen due to attrition and lack of morale simply because of constant bombing by the Luftwaffe if the US didn’t intervene sooner or later.
In addition, Japan was defeated in the Pacific largely by the US in an all-out war. Until the US intervened Japan was nearly unstoppable. It can be said that the USSR came in as well, but that happened near the very end of the war after the US was pounding Japan on its own shores.
In closing, my two cents is this: The US can fight wars and the US can win wars. It’s just that the US military hasn’t had the chance to fully showcase its power due to (admittedly crappy) political and civil reasons.

Ask yourself this:
If every army in the war was exactly the same, has the same amount of troops, tanks, fighter planes etc., who’d you think would win in an all out battle?

I would say that it all depends on the ppl operating those vehicles and the ppl on the front lines. It all depends on them.

Can U.S. win wars??? Iraq, Japan…
On one-to-one war, possibly. But not all wars are fought on one-to-one basis.
Iraq is just a pushover with outdated technology and equipments. WW2 Imperial Japan was strong but they lost the war due to US wartime industrial might.
US didn’t win the cold war by technology alone, USSR lost the cold war because they bankrupted the regime while trying to keep up with the pace in military and space technology.

Russia has been and will probably remain one of the weakest country’s in the world.
they were considered to be a superpower because they were able to manufacture large amounts of warheads
however generally speaking in every war that russia has come up against
they’ve lost many many soldiers, and were often assisted by other countries.
your peoples lack of world history astounds me.
what do they teach you in school nowadays?
next you’ll be saying that we got our asses handed to us in vietnam..
sad..

There becomes a point where something is so blantatly wrong it can only be classified as opinion, the topic creator is a prime example of that.
