China:
“Nearly 50,000 children are sick and/or dying because of milk. Apparently the milk contained melamine…” -CNN Broadcast
Our fears of poison have come close to nearly killing someone or something. Like the dog food. China is tainting our products with this…“cheap stuff”. Lead paint, they used that because it was cheap. Now the thing is, they are using melamine to as what my science teacher says “up the protein count in chocolate.” Gold coins, for example. Will we have another crisis? Or will this just another “jumping the gun” thing? Lets talk…discuss…i want to hear from everyone…if you think this is ridiculous…fine…if you think this is important…fine…

I think that, before adding a new chemical or something into their products, they should get the new chemical approved by the government, and have regular spontaneous chemical tests of their product.
Also, creative title. |

(Thanks) and yes…they should test this stuff before they put it in their products…heres another question…Is China trying to decrease our population by poisoning us? |

I’m pretty sure. If you’ve noticed some of the products that we have (made in China, no doubt) have been labeled “poisonous” and then recalled.

Approved by their government? I’d think that would take too long, and they’d rather be more rich then waiting to get stuff approved and so on and so forth. |

How often do they add new ingredients? Surely it’s not that often, as they probably have to re-arrange their entire assembly line, and whatnot. |

Actually it’s systemic, which means, once they decide to start adding it, it’s just part of the process from then on. There’s a lot of blind eyes turned, and others bribed so no one is looking. This melamine business is very likely the tip of the iceburg when it comes to products from China. |

Can I get a link of the candy killing 50k Chinese kids? Because when I searched, it came up with 50k+ babies sick from tainted milk that had melamine inside just a month ago.
Damn China is more jacked up than I thought.

No. The 50,000 sick children were Chinese. They’re not trying to kill people, they just have crappy health and safety standards which leads to situations like harmful chemicals being added to baby milk (not sure where you got ‘candy’ from)

my bad at that part…what i mean by “decreasing our population i mean this”
They are putting chemicals that make us ill on our products right?
And they are sending them over here right?
And we buy and use and/or consume these products right?
The chemicals get inside us and we could get ill and/or die…
Thats what i eman when i ask “Are they trying to decrease our population?” |

No..
They’re not intentionally trying to kill us. They’re trying to be cheaper than cheap by using this cheap chemical. Finding out the hard way, unfortunately, that it does kill people. |

exactly!
China is our main country….we get everything from there… yet, there are some countries who do not get credit when it comes to other things..
France
Germany
Japan
Russia
So why dont we get our stuff from these guys? |

Because it’s more expensive.
And surprisingly enough, the majority of imports from China don’t contain harmful chemicals. |

I wouldn’t be surprised if 80% of the things in my house came from China. I know of two things that contain lead. Why do those two things get all the attention? It’s not the rest that kills people, it’s those two things. |

Because it’s China, and China is ebil, amirite? Plus, it’s not China that’s doing it, its the companies that are doing it, it’s just happening in China. Lead paint on matel toys, blame mattel. |

That’s a good point. but surely it can’t help that China (doesn’t have / doesn’t enforce) laws concerning the production of fatal products. |

No, all those laws do is create gigantic beauracracies that drive the cost of doing business way up when they are unneeded. The market will come up with solutions, except now everyone expects and demands the government to move its bloated lathargic arm around to take care of the problem. No one likes to here that though, everyone wants someone to do something and do it now. They don’t care how much it costs or how poorly it works, so long as someone one does something.
Instead, if you are unsure, don’t buy it or have it tested. |

Yes, the market will fix it.
Afterall, 50,000 kids dead, the market will shake it’s head and tut-tut at the whole thing, and not do business with them any more.
The blood of the victims being the lubricant that makes the wheels of the magic market turn. |
