It’s a joke that never knew when to kill itself. I don’t think many Americans actually hate or even care excessively about Canada.

You’re totally wrong about that. The only problem I see in Canada (other than the politicians) are the absurdly high income and property taxes due to the government following socialist ideologies.

Having grown up in Western New York, less then 10 minutes from the U.S.-Canada border, my only problem with them is that when the exchange rate was in their favor, they’d come over and have little shopping sprees at malls throughout the area. Normally this isn’t a problem, but they tended to litter quite a bit, and it get’s annoying at times. I’m sure this isn’t typical of all of Canada, but it did happen in that area.

Is there a point to this thread besides perpetuating a stereotype?

We don’t all hate you. What few Canadians I’ve met I liked, which is a lot more than I can say for my own countrymen.
If Canadians get a lot of flak, it’s probably because Canada’s a close and painful reminder to the uber-patriotic here that you don’t have to invade a country every two years and cheat the masses out of essential services in order to run a first-world country. Its citizens aren’t busting our gates down to get in and Americans can’t flaunt their self-righteous, smug sense of superiority about like they can with Mexico.

Typical Americans unknowingly correct my Candan language with their American one.

First, Canadians in general are very well liked in the States. I know of nobody who really has anything negative to say about the people. When people DO bitch about Canada, they approach it from the POV that “Socialized Medicine” is BAD. or “GOVERNMENTS CONTROLLING THINGS IS BAD!!!”
The reality is quite simple. Some uber patriotic, Americans see the Canadian model as a real threat, while others of us see it as an imperfect success, but a success nonetheless.

I honestly think it’s because Canada is better off. You hear about all this horrible stuff, but you almost never hear about Canada. It’s always somewhere in Africa, Europe, the Middle-East, China, 3rd-World-Countries, and the USA.

Fact: “America” is not a country or continent.
Fact: Canada is part of North America.
Fact: United States is a country.
Fact: North America, South America, and (if you think like I do) Central America are continents.
