With a nominal GDP of 10,010,000 (Compare to the US’s 14.23 trillion).

GDP basically says nothing. Consider Niue having 1398 inhabitants and the USA having 306 million (roughly), the GDP per capita is much closer (46k to 7k). That’s still higher, but I find basing “worth rating” on GDP per capita much better.

List of countries by nominal GDP per capita

Niue is not on that list, but taking the right list, it would end up at around rank 70. There’s 192 ranks. Burundi has the lowest GDP per capita, at 104 (compared to Niue’s 7k). Liechtenstein has the highest, with 145k. USA is at “merely” one third of that. Hooray, Netherlands is on rank 12 with 54k.

Any way, now that we’re all comparing GDP, I can take the lists below the ones you and I linked to, then simply state which country is the most “worthless” in terms of that list.

1. Nominal GDP: Niue with 10.01 (in millions), compared to the highest, the European Union, with 18,850,000 (in millions).
2. Nominal GDP per capita: Burundi with 104, compared to the highest, Liechtenstein, with 145,734.
3. GDP (PPP): Tokelau with 2 (in millions), compared to the highest, the European Union with 14,820,000 (in millions). Niue has 8, though.
4. GDP (PPP) per capita: Zimbabwe with 200, compared to the highest, Liechtenstein with 118,000.
5. GDP growth: Zimbabwe with n/a! Nah, it’s Iceland with -13,79%. The highest is Azerbaijan with 48,23%.

So, it all depends on what you look at. By the way, PPP simply means you’re calculating GDP compared to the cost of living.

English weather is pretty annoying I guess, but you should see Canadian weather. It can go from -45 in winter to +35 in summer.

Be fair, Fuzzy: we engineers usually prefer the precision of the metric system for calculations that matter. But yeah, I agree that using a measurement based on the length of one’s foot is pretty retarded. The really retarded thing about it? the US had a chance to go metric in the 70’s but it was widely resisted, so we have a five-dollar footlong these days instead of a five dollar 33.3cm long.

So my Father was complaining about Kuwait today, and I thought it’d be a perfectly contrary addition to this thread for those of you who feel only poor countries with poor citizens fit the title “worthless.”

Along with my arguments the United Arab Emirates, I think Kuwait is equally worthless. Nations built on the wealth of oil and forced poverty of its own people.

Joking aside, I’ll take the more logical view that would hold benefit for us in the future. Spain has the least amount of population relative to land area. Therefore, if Spain’s population were to disappear, then we would recieve more land in relation to the amount of deaths it would cause.

I’m not attempting to offend anyone, decimating a country’s population would be an appauling thing to do.
