I think the issue here is that we don’t have a standard definition of ‘liberal’ and ‘conservative’. They are both general terms with some pretty poor connotations.

Also, what do these terms mean to you guys?

That sounds like a new thread waiting to happen.

i thought they were defined earlier on in the thread, you may be confusing liberal and conservative with republican and democrat.

I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this yet and I don’t have time to go through all four pages of this post, but by capitalising conservative you refer to the noun, being the political party.

I advise people not to do that. “Liberal” and “conservative” mean the opposite in Europe and Africa than they do in the United States, and both Republicans and Democrats in the U.S. would be considered center-right in most other countries.

…maybe you should go back to page one though, where i pointed out that Conservative is not a political party, but a political ideology, which are two different things. they are similar because parties are generally people with similar ideologies, not the same, but similar. it can actually be quite different seeing as how there are only two major political parties and 4 separately defined ideologies, with varying degrees of each 4.
@SenatorBob Liberal and Conservative are political ideologies that are universal, and Republicans and Democrats wouldn’t both be considered center-right, republicans would, democrats would be left-center-right.

democrats would be left-center-right.

Uhh, no they wouldn’t.

Democrats are center of right.

The republicans are just farther right.
