Alcohol is many times more dangerous, but it’s “culturally acceptable” still, I don’t get it. D:
Yes.

and don’t forget cigarettes, I find them worse than alcohol. Though I’m a little biased because my grandfather died of lung cancer, so I’ll probably never smoke. I guess if they legalize marijuana people will say, why stop there, why not legalize heroin. Alcohol can be drank without effects though if you don’t go over your limit. Though I haven’t smoked marijuana so I dunno about the effects of smoking heaps in one sitting of that.

It’s one of the least-dangerous of all the illegal drugs. It’s actually less dangerous and additive than nicotine. The actice ingredient is TCH, which can affect your judgement and similar things. I’ve never smoked it, but i know people who have. There are a couple of long-term effects, like paranoia and extreme memory loss. Plus, it’s not good for you to breathe in burning ash and smoke.

So alcohol and tobacco both are more dangerous than weed?

Although I would be against a ban on alcohol, since it’s far easier to drink socially than smoke socially without getting addicted, alcohol being far less addictive than nicotine. I’d be more in favour of a ban on alcopops, shooters etc. and raising the price of beer.

That sounded more like “Reefer Madness” to me. :)
Seriously, weed makes you mellow, not crazy. And medicinal marijuana at the very minimum would be huge. I heard a story of someone who had a sudden onset of severe chronic pain. It turned out the reason was that his job started to issue drug tests, so he had to stop smoking joints. Now, instead being occasionally high he suffers intense pain. How is this fair?
And yes, I do deny that crime would go up. In fact, I think crime would go down, because people would no longer have to break the law to get weed.

It was made illegal in the 1930s. Since then lots more research has been carried out, and it’s already been moved to a lower severity of drug.
(phoenix, the Daily Mail is a British paper that specialises in alarmist stories about immigrants, drugs and the general state of the nation. So yeah Reefer Madness is also pretty fitting :)).

but what im saying is that weed shound’t be made legal because the police have enough trouble with it

Only through arresting those who use it, and making it legal would eliminate that. The police have far more trouble with the results of alcohol abuse. Should alcohol be made illegal?

im in two minds about that i think binge drinking shounld be banned because that what causes most of the trouble on the streets

yeah but how would you go about banning binge drinking as a mode of behaviour? It’s already supposedly illegal to serve alcohol to someone who’s already drunk, but that doesn’t stop people.

I agree, everything in moderation, but how would you make binge drinking illegal?

if they were to make marijuana legal, they would put a tax on it and the overall price would be alot more. It would solve nothing imo because there would still be the need for smugglers to bring it into the country for illegal, yet cheaper purchase. it’s already easy enough to find marijuana and i think it would only increase the illegal purchase of it. i dont think it’s as bad as cigarettes and alcohol, but i think it’d be better if it stayed illegal.

I disagree. To the best of my knowledge, there is no smuggling of cigarettes into the US, despite heavy taxes and high prices. Plus, I’d actually expect the street price of Marijuana to be higher than the legal price. Marijuana is expensive now not because it’s hard to grow but because of the risk of growing and trafficking it. It’d be very cheap to grow legally and even with high taxes would likely be cheaper than current rates.
As for “binge drinking”, a law forbidding public drunkeness could account for that. Attach some BAC number to it and it’s easy to enforce.
