The Idea
Simply put, X-Men. Heroes. You name it. What if psychic abilities, mega-memories, pre-cognitive senses, ESP, etc. are all genetic mutations taking place in humans, and one day will become dominant traits? What if this is the next step in human evolution?
The Cause
Genetic mutations are frequent, but less noticeable and sometimes are quickly pushed out of the general population. The ability to remember everything you read, or sense things others can’t, etc. could be linked to DNA mutations.
The survival aspects of these traits put people with these types of mutations at an advantage, which would lead to a split in the human race where those who could sense things, or remember things, would out-perform those who could not.
The Examples
Hyperthymesia
Natasha Demkina
Edgar Cayce
Daniel Tammet
Liew Thow Lin
(Just a few examples, some are skeptical, feel free to question them and enlighten me.)
So what does it mean?
Could extraordinary abilities be the next step in Humans? Could it all be fake? Am I out of my mind? What do you think humans will be like in the future, and what problems will arise because of this?

If we wait long enough, we could use humans with the ability to see into the future to tell us what will happen. Hopefully that won’t get to there heads…
DNA mutations should be studied. With the ban on stem cells lifted, it should prove to be an interesting century. I am personally rooting for meat growth and project natal.

Hypothetically, yes. Will anyone do that for you in real life? No.

Maybe. :) There was a case of two twins where one had the other’s arm surgically attached to him. Can’t use it, but it didn’t fall off.

Modern science has been able to connect man and machine. So why not more man attached to man?

Well how to put this…I think you are looking at this all wrong. I think the best way to explain this is to say that if ‘extraordinary abilities’ emerge, we wouldn’t consider it so extraordinary. For example bats and dolphins have the ‘extraordinary ability’ to navigate with sound, electric eels can electrocute their prey, and so on. Since abilities like these emerge slowly over time, by the time you are likely to notice it there is a good chance it is already the norm.

Personally I think it’s quite obvious that the next step is multitasking.

That was (thankfully) a hoax. I did believe it at first though, until I found out.

I always thought, If Human’s didn’t shave or anything or shower or live in houses, Pretty much… If Human’s were less intelligent… We would have evolved much earlier, and we would probably look somewhat like the idea of bigfoot, Hairy, Tall, Maybe somewhat muscular…

In other words, we would be like the rest of the apes.

Yes. For some reason… I think we have evolved from apes into humans, and pretty much back to apes. I think we are like the end of the line. Unless one of us sprouts spikes wings and horns soon, and has thousands of babys, I think it is a strong theory.

How have we evolved back into apes?

I think we will grow taller, out hands will become bigger, we will lose certain areas of hair, lose organs that are of no use, and our skull will become larger. These changes might be enough to become a new species.

In case anyone is curious, here is some current data regarding human evolution.
Also in the articles is a nice snipe at those who believe this “we aren’t subject to evolution” nonsense:
“However Stearns points out that the rate of change driven by natural selection found in this group of women does not differ much from rates observed in nature.”

I agree this is all possible but not the whole X-Men thing. I doubt were gonna get people that can look into the future before we can even discover how time works properly.
Anyways, I think things that are actually highly possible “super powers”
Super Healing – Born with an immune system that is overly reactive. Person would needa eat a lot more to sustain the metabolic rate.
Better “Animal” traits – Look around at all the animals. Cats with night vision, cows with more stomachs etc. No reason these couldn’t slowly make their way into the human population from an animals superior body part.
MAYBE fire control, since flammable substances can be produced by the human body. Of course the body woulda need distribute and mix these.
Better human basics – run faster, jump higher. etc etc
Mutations – More arms/legs. Wings? Harden’d skin (Body produces bone material onto the skin as well)
:)

Does this include a white blood cell and Lymphatic system advancement? Because there’s no point to being over-reactive if your lymphatic system can’t handle it.

When I said, Evolve back into apes, Not we have, We will… except… Stronger apes.
I think we will be colossus, like 8ft tall, but have ape characteristics like fur and face.

A species does not randomly gain entire parts of the body, such as wings. Where would those limbs come from? What traits do we already possess that could become functional wings? What environmental pressures would push that way? Here’s some that are actually likely, given current abilities, trends, and pressures:
Second Thumb – The pinky drifts lower, becomes stronger, and adds another gripping digit to our hand. Leading steps already exist in the human population in varying measures — usually seen as a minor deformity at birth.
Plastic Digestion – Probably comes about to fill an ample niche. Little energy taken, but there’s a whole lot of it available. Some microorganisms capable of doing this already inefficiently. Could result from symbiosis, such as we have with certain bacteria that assist in digestion of meat.
Increased Intelligence – People now are generally smarter than people before. This could easily be because of diet and education, but it tends to be a trend even in a poor environment for mental health. The people of a thousand years from now will not find challenge in the things our average individually mentally wrestles with.
Increased Flexibility In Metabolic Reactions – People put on fat in certain environments and take off fat in certain others far more easily than the average person of this times. People with this ability are seen as healthy and attractive to the most people in the general public, which increases breeding, which increases the propagation of the gene… it also helps survival so is like to lead to offspring with the trait surviving and getting mates themselves.
Superior Height – Taller people (especially males) are more impressive and have an easier time in life, society, and romantically (though not by much.) Just as the average height a thousand years ago was little over five feet even among the well-fed and those that broke six feet were seen as giant, the heights of men in the future would logically (if we assume that there isn’t a massive social change that discourages height) tower over the modern man by a head or four.
Your super-powered fantasies are not only ridiculous, they’re insulting.

Not entirely sure how it insults you, but hear me out. Suppose a human was able to pre-sense something, an increased instinctive feeling that something is about to happen. Would this not help them in survival? Even animals can sense things we can not, so the idea of a human having the ability to sense something, see something ahead, or even manipulate with the mind isn’t as farfetched as people make it out to be. You just need the right kind of circumstances, and this may already be occuring.

Uh… it was shown that people grow taller because we have a more balanced diet with protein. Take North Korea where most people do not get a lot of food in general. They are on average 3~5 inches (not sure if exact numbers) shorter than average South Koreans.
