Description

=Walkthrough=

In order to successfully play the whole story, choose the normal difficulty level and play the Story Mode in the “Classic” version. A normal difficulty means that the heroes need 2 successes in most of the challenges. So when the dice from the initial roll show at least 2 successes, the hero has succeeded and doesn’t need to spend Fate Points. If on the other hand the initial roll comes up with no successes at all, it is better to not waste a Fate Point, because rolling 2 successes with the 3 extra dice is unlikely. The heroes have enough Stamina Points to survive a couple of failed challenges. Only if the initial roll comes up with 1 success, you should spend a Fate Point.

The Stealth and Charisma challenge have to be faced by one hero and they require 3 successes. Pick the hero with the best skill value for this task. As a matter of fact try to start the adventure with at least one stealthy and one charismatic hero.

In the “Standard” version the difficulty is raised by +1, so in order to succeed at a challenge you will most of the time have to challenge fate. Technically speaking you can do so in each and every challenge, but the Labyrinth Minigame gets more and more difficult, so it might be a better idea to endure some failures in the beginning of the adventure in order to succeed in the later stage when emeralds are at stake.

Is this... is this a game running the FATE system? O_o

In its unplugged version it is a similar system, but has a set number of attributes, which allowed it to be made into a computer game. Hopefully "Emeralds" will be the first in a series with more and more added game functions. If you want to have a look at the unplugged version in all its splendour, you can do so here: http://www.freelancer-rpg.de/Kaphornia.html.

I like it, but it's quite difficult!

On further review though, the similarity is only superficial.

Well, FATE 2.0 was basically just a framework for designing your own homebrew system, which seems to be more or less what this (flash) game is using. The unplugged rules look a little different, but I haven't had a chance to examine them in detail. And of course you're the expert on where your inspiration came from.

Yes! Made Top Socre! ^^

Nice little game. Sound gets on my nerves, but the story is funny.
