1. Buy the $10 missiles. ONLY use these early-mid game, matching enemy missile-for-missile (though it takes a few to take down the sausage missile) 2. buy the $1000 factory, and let it do the damage for you. 3. If you feel so inclined, save up for the big missile. Then save up another $1500 and release a massive missile on each row, giving heavy support with the $10 missiles to avoid losing the heavies to normal enemy rockets. This is a very easy game; the only reason I lost at all was that I hadn't reacted quickly enough early-game on the final level.
