slimes die if you stand near the light torch for 5 seconds

i swear this level is bugged. There isnt anywhere i can go. I lit several torches but none open gates I can use.
-pretty far in. a few levels after the massive spider level with the floating platforms. you start upper right 2nd level down. just to the left of you is a simple loop several floors deep. red torch halfway down the drop on one side of the loop needs to be shot as you fall past. otherwise GREAT GAME!

how do i get the slimes off of me? If I get one i currently will die eventually? SOmetimes they fall off though. There must be something im missing.
