Description

v1.41:

1) Fixed a bug where certain enemies were spawning and despawning instantly in the caverns level under certain circumstances. If you couldn’t get a 100% kill rate there before, try again now.

2) Added text to the mouse-and-player sync widget that activates after certain dialog sequences and in between pauses. It was confusing some people.

I actually find text in these games somewhat nice for a change of pace between levels, what I might suggest is an option to "turn off the story", which basically just skips the text and "cinematics" for a pure shooter feeling.

Offering the player a "story mode" and an "arcade mode" is a pretty good idea, actually. I'll keep that in mind for the sequel(s). :D

Not bad at all... Reminds me "Bullet heaven" though.

Thanks, although I've got a ways to go before my artwork is anywhere near that good.

Well, the gameplay is good and the game has a lot of polish, which is good. The plot is... irritating, but probably just because I read a lot and the characters' motivations and interactions are very one-dimensional with the exception of the main character who is pretty much a jerk. I think, though, that good characterization is probably something that comes with experience, and everything in this game feels like you've put a lot of time into. Overall, I'd say this is an amazing first game, and I hope you make more in the future.

Yeah I'll admit, I had trouble weaving a story into this game because, for the most part, I've been getting the impression that people don't want big stories in games like this. So I tried to cram a lot in with only a few words, and I guess I'm not good at it. I think, had I done this as an RPG instead, I would've had a better chance to flesh everyone out. Oh well, live and learn!

Game design is top notch, especially with the focused/non-focused concepts. Game concept, on the other hand, just doesn't fit the game design. This would work better with ships than a person. At least slow the movement of the background, it's too fast to make sense. One more thing that I really liked that I want to point out, is the position of the boss being shown at the bottom of the screen. Never seen that done before, and it is an excellent idea.
