To win Deity, ignore culture completely and build population as fast as you can, with a bit of production on the side. You can get away with about 40% threat. Always click green or flee when invaded. Try to use fields as a buffer for excess population. Towards the end you may want to invest in a bit of weaponry to fight off the last invaders as you go all out production.

If you want to win, then take zzxxzz3's advice. But also know that you should keep your threat level around 20-25%. If you keep it below 8, you'll still have a similar number of battles, but you won't have nearly enough people working the food, production, and culture. You NEED to have a threat level of about 20%, or it's nearly or completly impossible to win (and if there is a way to win with an 8% threat level, I don't know what it could be). Also, the game is based on luck as well, so don't worry if you have to try a few times to get things in your favor.

The only thing I didn't like about the tech trees was not being able to level them up after advancing to the next tier in the tree.

On option to see exact numbers would be very much appreciated. My victory depended on having one technology exactly on this very turn, and having 43K/43K progress is the most frustrating thing ever.

but then i got +20% production from dynasty and i won on turn 119

When a new dynasty begins, is the thing that it's famous for chosen at random? Or is it the same in every game? Or is it the same in every playthrough, per difficulty level, but different between each of the 3 difficulty levels?

There's a "typo," if you count grammatical errors as typos. (Before you dislike this comment please understand the difference between these two:) When you're picking your difficulty, it says, "Press any skull to see ::it's:: description." The only meaning of "it's" is "it is." And "its" means the thing that belongs to it. Again please do not dislike, and if you do... Well, then you obviously can't tell the difference between "its" and "it's."

Trevorocalypse, I'm not sure where you went wrong, but I just followed it myself almost exactly and I got pretty good results on Settler difficulty. I'm going to follow it again for the Chief and Diety difficulties and we'll see how it goes. Though I don't see how since they don't seem to influence the gameplay that much if you follow zzxxzz3's walkthrough, perhaps you are being hampered by some of the in-game events?
