It's not just the items that were randomized, but it seems the results as well. I managed to get out of the school with the bike through the kitchen after using the boombox (Hint for those who have the bike and a working boombox), but second time I didn't make it when I used the same trick. Or is there something with the hp/maiming that seems to screw it up?

Just like playing a tabletop role-playing game, the DM throws plenty of hidden dice rolls, behind the scenes. Your statistics have weight. If you're missing an arm and an eyeball, it will be more difficult to survive..

Please, please, please give us the option to continue wielding our old weapon when confronted with a new item. Sure, I think that pair of scissors might come in handy later, but that doesn't mean that I'm going to drop my razor-sharp katana. I'd much rather just shove the scissors in my backpack for later use. But, failing that, I'd like an option to put the scissors back and pick up the katana again.

I just released a new version! Instead of giving you the option to continue wielding your old weapon, you will now wield the weapon that will do the most damage in combat. You'll keep your razor-sharp katana, instead of brandishing a dull pair of scissors. You can also manage your inventory by clicking on words like "YOU" or "YOUR" on any page. Combat is also cleaned up. Equip any weapon in your inventory in the combat screen, clicking on the text that says, "You hold scissors in your hand," to access the option to dig through your backpack.

I wasn't sure what to expect with "interactive fiction" but I was pleasantly surprised. Great job. It's tough, exciting, and surprisingly immersive.

I'm happy you enjoyed it. You might have already figured it out, but each time you play the game, the experience is different. Some rooms have an infected inside, or now are empty, and other inventory objects might pop up (or not). What helped you escape the school on one game might not work on another. ;)
