Description

It would help a lot of you either made the green squares predictable and/or told us what number is next.
I tried not to make the game predictable. You sort of have to work with a new scenario on each move. The next number is shown in the top left corner.

Random placement of available squares makes this frustrating when you wait for a certain number and can't put it where you planned when it appears. Perhaps not selecting a square which isn't adjacent to any numbered square would make this more approachable.
Yes, I tried not to make the game predictable. You sort of have to work with a new scenario on each move. Yes that can be frustrating but is it more challenging?

I love that you are taking suggestions --
Make an easy vs hard mode! Easy means 2 squares lit up in each column where the next lit up one is just below the last (in the next available square).
Medium means you get 2 squares but the choices are random to where the green squares are and
Hard means you get only 1 lit up green square in each column, and it's random! :)
Good suggestion, I will consider this for next release.

You probably should just add a note at the start that the green squares are random. Something to stop people from being surprised by it and commenting over and over. I think it's a fun and challenging game. Took me a few tries to get the hang of it and stop making dumb mistakes.
Thank you for this suggestion.

I think the random placement squares makes the game too hard and pushes this over the edge where it stops being enjoyable. It would be sufficiently challenging to avoid the trap squares if you could use any free space.
I have now modified the game to allow extra placement squares. This should allow more choices.
