An educational platformer is good. But this one needs work. The graphics are poor, the gun can't be aimed and does little damage, the stars are faster and more agile than you are... as a platformer it just doesn't cut it. You could make up for that with a good educational element, but doing simple arithmetic in the corner isn't much. Especially since it's solving the equations for you. Someone with math skills at that level probably won't pay attention (and probably won't have the attention to spare from trying to dodge the enemies and jump around). If you had to find the right number to fill in the equation, that might be something. A bit of a challenge and a reason to pay attention to what numbers you're picking up. Not to mention the ability to choose multiplication or division. As a kid, I had a lot of fun with a game like that on the family's Apple IIc. It had better graphics and level design than this.
